Technical & Product Leadership

  • Leads end-to-end discovery and requirements activities for complex features, epics, or cross-team initiatives.

  • Facilitates Story Mapping, Design Thinking workshops, and other workflow visualization sessions to build shared understanding of problem statements and solution approaches.

  • Evaluates requirement options and gude teams through decision-making trade-offs based on scope, time, feasibility, and risk.

  • Defines high-quality user stories, acceptance criteria, and solution options, including the use of templates such as Gherkin Statements where appropriate.

  • Leads backlog refinement sessions, and support sprint planning, release planning, and stakeholder demo sessions; able to back up the product owner as needed.

  • Facilitates stakeholder demo sessions and conduct live demonstrations, when appropriate, to showcase team progress and elicit feedback from stakeholders.

  • Triages bugs and defects encountered during development or production phases, and address any pending concerns.

  • Ability to review test strategies and collaborate with testers to ensure coverage, clarity, and alignment with business needs.

  • Analyzes test results, risks, and data to help teams plan effectively and communicate impact to stakeholders.

  • Drives continuous improvements by identifying enhancements in product processes, team worklows, and SDLC practices.

  • Facilitates complex team discussions and help the group arrive at well-informed, consensus-driven decisions.

As a Product Owner/Business Analyst at Willis Towers Watson, you will be part of a highly collaborative scrum team with members on two continents. This is an integral role in product development by ensuring the organization’s needs are articulated in the user story and acceptance criteria consumed by the Agile Scrum Team. You will be key in influencing prioritization decisions in collaboration with Product Managers and fellow Product Owners, lead discovery activities, and ensure clarity of requirements across the software development lifecycle.

The Requirements

  • Minimum of 7+ years of hands-on Product Owner & Business Analyst experience in ground-up software development initiatives—including new builds, enhancements, and support/maintenance work. Additionally, brings strong experience owning feature-level product backlog items and driving discovery-to-delivery activities.

  • Strong capability in product discovery and backlog management—able to define clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and release-ready requirements; prioritizes effectively based on business value, feasibility, and dependencies.

  • Advanced-level experience in requirements gathering, analysis, documentation, including the ability to mentor others in these areas.

  • Strong technical acuity and the ability to engage in technical discussion with developers, testers, and SMEs—understanding system behavior, data flows, integration points, and trade-offs to support more accurate scoping, risk identification, and solution definition.

  • Demonstrated capability in defining, validating, and integrating non-functional requirements (NFRs)—including security, performance, scalability, and resilience—into solution design and delivery.

  • Brings a proactive, inquisitive mindset and the ability to dissect ambiguous problems with precision—leveraging strong critical thinking and exceptional attention to detail to guide the team towards effective solutions.

  • Able to identify risks, dependencies, and impacts, and communicate them clearly to the team in order to enable informed trade-off discussions and sequencing decisions.

  • Highly experienced in Agile Scrum software development and proven ability to recommend and drive process improvements within the practice.

  • Highly self-organizing, effectively managing time and scope and can take ownership of substantial discovery work for initiatives with minimal guidance

  • Proven multitasking ability and capability to support cross-functional responsibilities within the scrum team

  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, especially in explaining business requirements and functional specifications to developers, testers, and stakeholders

  • Strong understanding and application of design thinking, story mapping, workflow visualization

  • Ability to work effectively in remote, virtual, and multi-time zone environments while maintaining strong collaboration and communication

  • Solid experience working with enterprise systems, micoservices, integrations, and database concepts.

  • High proficiency in learning new technologies and tools; experience in evaluating or piloting new solutions is a plus.

  • Relevant experience working in IT for the HR industry and/or Website Content Management Systems (CMS) is a plus.

  • Knowledge in Artificial Intelligence (AI) is preferred, but not required.

  • Experience working on Artificial Intelligence (AI) features and functionalities is a plus.
