Your New Role…

CNN Digital seeks a photo editor to help shape visual storytelling across platforms for breaking news, enterprise and feature stories. This role will involve sourcing and vetting compelling photography under tight deadlines and collaborating with colleagues across the newsroom to drive engagement while upholding the highest standards of journalistic integrity. The ideal candidate is team-oriented and self-motivated and thrives in a fast-paced breaking news environment.

Your Role Accountabilities

  • Coordinate photo coverage for breaking news and features and work closely with the CNN Digital teams across platforms.

  • Research and produce daily and long-term projects in support of all CNN Digital.

  • Select the best images for CNN stories, the homepage, and live coverage of breaking news and events.

  • Research and produce photo essays and galleries for breaking news and feature stories.

  • Write captions and headlines on photo essays and galleries and produce packages for online consumption.

  • Produce photo loops and photo splits, and do screen grabs from live satellite feeds.

  • In a fast-paced news environment, you will act as quality control on images that are graphic or raise a red flag, especially coming from third parties that require deep vetting and discussion.

  • Work with CNN’s Rights and Clearances team to ensure that images coming from third-party sources are licensed properly.

Qualifications & Experience…

  • 3+ years photo editing experience in a newsroom

  • A solid news background with an understanding of a variety of themes, including politics, business, international news, entertainment and sports

  • Extremely strong news judgment and an ability to work in a fast-paced news environment

  • Experience working at a digital news platform or a news photo agency preferred

  • Knowledge of emerging and established photographers and photo agencies around the world preferred

  • Interest in the photojournalism industry and its trends.

  • Knowledge of AP style

  • Experience with content management systems, Abobe Photoshop and PhotoMechanic

  • Experience with Adobe Premier and Illustrator are a big plus

  • Familiarity with SEO and web analytics are a bonus

Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $77,840.00 - $144,560.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros.
