Your New Role
The commercial HVAC Technician is a skilled and motivated professional responsible for safely and efficiently testing, repairing, and installing both new and existing mechanical systems and equipment. This role includes performing preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on a wide range of components, ensuring their proper function, performance, and reliability.
Key equipment maintenance and repairs will be performed on but not limited to, Data Center systems, Chillers, Studios, TGR rooms, fire safety equipment, air compressors, cooling towers, intake and exhaust fans, and other critical mechanical infrastructure. This position provides support for operation 24/7/365 days a year across the WB campus and designated off-site locations. Because of this continuous support requirement, the technician must be flexible and available to work various shifts as needed.
Your Role Accountabilities
- Monitor 5000-ton Central Cooling / chilled water distribution plant and critical space (Datacenter) operation scattered across 12 buildings and 1.5M s/f of commercial production space; specifically, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, make up water stations and controls.
- Responsible for, maintenance and operation of commercial comfort cooling and critical application HVAC units (AHU, FCU, VAV, FPV, CRAH, CRAC units)
- Diagnose and resolve issues with boilers, pumps, electrical systems, air handlers, air compressors, exhaust fans, Liebert units, and related mechanical components.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on mechanical systems per established schedules to maximize uptime and extend equipment life. This includes but is not limited to changing filters, greasing motors, flushing lines, cleaning coils, and other maintenance as needed, instructed by your manager or HVAC lead.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management (manager, HVAC Lead) to support facility needs.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years working in a commercial chilled water plant and distribution environment. Critical cooling (datacenter) equipment and applications experience is a plus.
- EPA Universal or Type II certification Required
- Apprenticeship or vocational school preferred.
- Direct expansion, indirect expansion, operation of chillers, chilled and condenser water loops via VFD control, cooling towers, make up water operations, electrical troubleshooting at the control level, AHU, VAV operations and CRAC/CRAH experience.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Familiarity with digital platforms including MS Office and HVAC control systems such as Niagara/Tridium, Johnson Controls, Honeywell etc.
- Warm air license preferred
- Stationary Engineer Certification preferred
- Boiler Operator Certification preferred
