Your New Role…
This position will work with Streaming Content Accounting leadership in overseeing the streaming content accounting processes for WBD’s LATAM offerings, HBO and HBO Max. This position will manage a team of two professionals who provide full-service accounting and reporting related to HBO and HBO Max. The team is responsible for reviewing all P&L activity; preparing journal entries for production cash, accruals, prepaids, amortization, intercompany and other ad hoc entries as needed; preparing quarterly variance explanations; preparing balance sheet reconciliations and preparing external reporting schedules supporting our SEC filings. This role will work closely with our Business Affairs, Finance and Financial Reporting counterparts. This role will ensure all deliverables are completed timely, accurately, and will sign off on necessary close requirements. The role requires the ability to communicate both financial and non-financial information to finance and operational partners throughout the company.
Your Role Accountabilities…
- Manage accounting functions: maintaining the general ledger, journal entry processing, account reconciliations, analysis, certifications and audit deliverables
- Oversee the month end close process to ensure accuracy, integrity, and completeness
- Review and approve work product to ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and company policies
- Review complex entries and supporting documentation and recommend proper accounting treatment on these transactions
- Analyze existing processes and identify opportunities for improvement
- Lead special projects and proactively develop accurate ad hoc analyses for management to make informed decisions
- Responsible for ensuring proper internal controls are in place and all transactions are recorded timely and accurately in accordance with GAAP and established SOX requirements and procedures
- Build, foster, and maintain good working relationships with members of the Finance, Line of Business, and Operations.
- Assist with team administration: feedback, development, training, assessment
Qualifications & Experience…
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience required and a strong understanding of US GAAP, SOX requirements, and relevant local GAAP as required
- BS/BA in Accounting from an accredited university
- Master’s degree in accounting a plus
- Public accounting experience / Big 4 experience a plus
- Prior experience with SAP S/4 HANA a plus
- Prior experience in content accounting or the media/entertainment industry is preferred
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, proactive, deadline-oriented
- Mental agility to prioritize and execute in a fast-paced environment
- Initiative, independent problem-solving abilities, ownership of work product, strong leadership qualities and ability to effectively delegate
- Ability to foster positive working relationships across the organization
- In-depth experience with process analysis and improvement
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- CPA or local equivalent or a path towards attaining
