Your New Role…
The Technical Manager Production Operations is responsible for managing all aspects of the NHX video and audio department in a professional LIVE sports production setting. He is in charge of managing parts of the staff, overseeing the entire IP based and legacy video, audio equipment, operations and maintenance and is joining global working groups as subject matter expert developing new technology and processes to improve the quality of LIVE sports productions for the entire GSA region. The position requires long term experience in the field of (remote and traditional) live production of sports events. The Technical Manager Production Operations reports into the Senior Broadcast Manager Operations. The position is based in Hilversum, Netherlands, and involves a 40 hour week from Monday to Sunday as well as being on call 7 days a week. Furthermore, this position requires regular work in the Hilversum production facilities on the occasion of live productions.
Your Role Accountabilities…
Professional lead of the NHX permanent and freelance video engineering team.
Preparation, configuration and maintenance of the entire IP/cloud based and legacy video, audio and network infrastructure and systems in the NHX LIVE production control room, VR studio, playout, graphics, network and post-production facilities.
Support of global Warner Bros. Discovery optimization projects as subject matter expert in the entire field of state of the art live and non-live audio technology and operations.
Further development of existing systems as well as the integration and configuration of new components.
Liaise closely with the local NHX business clients and internal/external engineering and operations teams and derive the planning and managing of complex IP based and legacy audio and video end-to-end processes and workflows for big LIVE sports productions.
Work for big LIVE sports productions as an interdisciplinary supervisor in engineering and as well even operationally for smaller productions as an Vision Engineer in the production control room.
Fault find and coordination of the maintenance of all video, audio, VR studio, graphics and IP equipment in the local production facilities.
Ongoing cross-functional supervision and training of all NHX T&O permanent and freelance in all technology and operations disciplines.
Qualifications & Experience…
BSc/BA degree (Broadcast Engineering or Media Technology) or comparable professional qualification paired with long-term working experience in the area broadcast production, operations and play out of live sports events.
Experience and understanding of cloud broadcasting, remote and traditional production and the associated processes for producing live sports events.
Up to date knowledge regarding UHD and HD Video-/Audio Broadcast formats and the principles of its transmission and file encoding formats including file transfer mechanisms.
Demonstrable knowledge of current baseband and (IP/cloud based) studio production video and audio equipment (replay servers, cameras, VR studio systems, graphics, wireless studio microphones and in-ears, radios, communication systems, audio servers, sound effect systems and video audio editing)
Familiar with network control systems for production equipment and scheduling software.
Network and IP infrastructure knowledge including a good understanding of the latest IP/AV standards (e.g. 2110-10, NDI, SRT, SIP, AES67 and Dante).
Used to working in a fast-paced live TV production environment.
Strong interpersonal and organisational skills, ability to communicate clearly and to work independently.
Excellent Dutch and English communication in spoken and written is a must.
