Ce cours aborde les éléments de forme, de couleur, de ligne, de texture, de profondeur, de motifs et d'espace tout en s'éloignant de la précision de la représentation. Les pratiques clés incluent l'encouragement à l'expérimentation de matériaux et de techniques variés, la promotion d'une approche « processus plutôt que produit » et la promotion de l'exploration de compositions structurelles, de l'expression personnelle et d'un engagement intuitif dans l'activité créatrice. La peinture abstraite aborde des concepts tels que la composition, l'équilibre, le rythme et le mouvement. Elle présente également les principales sources globales soit historiques et/ou contemporaines des références abstraites. L'enseignement et les discussions se font dans les deux langues officielles. Les compétences linguistiques minimales recommandées sont de pouvoir comprendre, lire et interagir oralement en classe dans la langue seconde officielle.This course addresses the elements of form, color, line, shape, texture, depth patterning and space while moving away from representational accuracy. Key practices include encouraging experimentation with diverse materials and techniques, fostering a "process over product" mindset, and promoting the exploration of structural compositions, personal expression, and intuitive engagement with the creative activity. Introduction of concepts such as composition, balance, rhythm, movement, tension and contrast. Introduction of key historical and contemporary global sources of abstract references. Teaching and discussion take place in the two official languages. Recommended minimum language skills include the ability to understand, read and interact orally in class in your second official language.

Maîtrise en arts visuels ou l'équivalent. Pratique reconnue et dossier d'exposition en peinture et en art contemporain. Expérience en enseignement post-secondaire./ Master of Fine Arts or equivalent. Established reputation and exhibition record in painting and contemporary art. Teaching experience at post-secondary level.

Rate based on basic rate for a 3-credit course ($9 956).An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.
