Seminar in History Across Borders: Supreme Courts – Canada and the United StatesThe seminar will explore the histories of the Supreme Court in Canada and the United States, considering deep moments of change for both courts and in turn, exploring the impact of judicial appointments, deliberations, decisions, and debates. Students will explore the origins of both courts and consider how to use these records to study history and consider how they might be used to study the political, social, and cultural history of both countries, exploring a history of the constitutions, amendments, and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms to anchor our work during the term.
