DVM 3570 Raisonnement quantitatif en développement international (3 crédits)Introduction à l'utilisation des données et à l'analyse statistique de base en développement international. Vue d'ensemble des données, des sources de données et des mesures quantitatives de base du développement: ratios, pourcentages, indices (par exemple, l'indice de développement humain et ses variantes); mesures du revenu national, des inégalités, de la pauvreté; et des indicateurs de base relatifs à la démographie, la santé, l'éducation et l'environnement. Introduction aux statistiques descriptives, aux statistiques inférentielles de base et aux techniques de base de représentation de données (principalement à l'aide d'Excel).

Préalables: SCS 2550, DVM 2505, DVM 2506. Les cours DVM 3570, SOC 3542 ne peuvent être combinés pour l'obtention de crédits.

La priorité sera accordée aux candidat.es qui maîtrisent les fonctions d'analyse statistique de base d’Excel, qui sont familier.ères avec différentes sources en lien avec le développement (tant au niveau national qu'au niveau des enquêtes), ainsi qu’avec les débats entourant les indicateurs de revenu national, de pauvreté, les inégalités et d'autres dimensions du développement. Des capacités plus avancées en codage ou en analyse statistique (comme la connaissance des SIG ou de logiciels libres tels que R ou Python) constituent un avantage et peuvent être appliquées à des cas spécifiques (en matière de visualisation des données par exemple).
