Position purpose

Directly contributes to the implementation of major projects based on the Health Canada logic model to support training of students and health-care professionals, and supports professors in programs within the mandate of the Consortium national de formation en santé (CNFS). Working closely with the director of operations, provides guidance and informs strategic decisions on all CNFS and Health Canada priority actions, including research, continuing education, academic and clinical training, and alumni integration. Works alongside CNFS member institutions, regional partners and faculties. Also teaches in own profession or a related program within a faculty, and serves on the program committee. *With possibility of renewal.

Specific accountabilities

  • Project management: Consistent with Health Canada priorities, analyzes needs, establishes directions and develops action plans for short-, medium- and long-term projects based on needs and overall objectives in the five-year plan. Develops project proposals, collects and analyzes data, and documents and issues recommendations to the leadership team. Anticipates issues and proposes innovative, priority-focused solutions. Determines risks and adopts solutions to ensure project objectives are met. Determines key performance indicators based on project objectives.
  • Planning and implementation: Manages all steps leading to the implementation of major training and educational activities (which could include research programs) for students, professors and health-care professionals in order to produce medical experts who have the skills to provide care and services in Francophone minority communities (FMCs). Plans the main phases and resources (human, material, financial and space-related) needed to meet project objectives. Takes responsibility for all operational activities related to own projects.
  • Continuous improvement: Analyzes project results by assessing key indicators and documenting lessons learned to make recommendations on project improvements. Plays an active role in strategic planning exercises, sharing reflections on an ongoing basis. Identifies and proposes new initiatives in line with strategic directions to promote continuous improvement in project planning. Drafts standard operating documents for own projects that comply with Health Canada performance processes. Proposes innovations in program planning and delivery, and aligns deliverables with overall objectives in the five-year plan to achieve excellence and meet those objectives.
  • Expert advice and collaboration: Provides faculties with expert support on education, recruitment, supervision, etc. Serves as a subject matter expert to provide guidance on special projects. Shares knowledge on CNFS activities with professors, the co-ordination team, clinical education leaders and students, and works with them to maximize success in achieving goals.
  • Communication: Establishes and maintains collaborations with various actors in health-care facilities, health networks and remote placement sites in FMCs to promote project excellence. Develops communication plans to ensure participation, transparency and a high level of commitment to special projects under own responsibility, and promotes understanding of the University’s objectives and overall vision. Delivers training to health-care professionals during national workshops, and gives talks as part of major activities to share results of projects in FMCs.
  • Education and evidence: Conducts research to create and offer training content that aligns with trends, and identifies best practices in areas related to strategic projects and priorities. Helps create tools related to the development of evidence-based training projects for students and health-care professionals. Delivers a maximum of three credits or equivalent of theoretical, practical or clinical training, and contributes to various activities in the CNFS program associated with teaching duties.

Knowledge, experience and skills

• Master’s degree in a health-related field corresponding to a CNFS program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

• Five years’ experience as a health-care professional

• Three to five years’ experience in training or lecturing

• Excellent command of French as well as strong reading and listening comprehension in English

• Master’s degree in education or adult education — an asset

• Experience in designing training, teaching post-secondary courses and using various online learning platforms (Brightspace, LearnyBox, Easy LMS, Mentimeter, etc.)

• Experience in using various software programs: advanced proficiency in Excel or equivalent tools to manage data, develop dashboards and track performance indicators

• Experience in project management and in strategic and budget planning

• Familiarity with operations of community resources and organizations in social services and health-care networks

• Knowledge of project management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello, MS Project or equivalent) — an asset

• Public speaking skills and ability to prepare and deliver presentations for various audiences

• Ability to interpret performance indicators and propose improvements

• Ability to think critically and synthesize knowledge

• Strategic instinct, analytical rigour, innovative mindset and ability to work in a rapidly changing environment

• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills

• Initiative, self-sufficiency and sound judgment
