The BHI program is led by the University of Ottawa, University of Ottawa Heart Institute (UOHI) and Brain and Mind Research Institute (uOBMRI) in collaboration with partner organizations in Canada and internationally.Position Purpose:
Reporting to the Manager, Brain-Heart Interconnectome, the Senior Project Manager, Brain-Heart Interconnectome leads the planning, organization, execution and continuous improvement for the efficient delivery of assigned projects and programs of the Brain-Heart Interconnectome (BHI). BHI is a ground-breaking interdisciplinary research program aimed at accelerating prevention, detection, treatment and care of brain-heart disorders.
The Project Manager, in collaboration with the Associate Director and Manager, is responsible for data collection, analysis and reporting under the BHI performance measurement plan and the delivery of assigned BHI funding programs.
In this role, you responsibilities will include:
Project Planning and Management:
Develop detailed operational plans for a range of projects including but not limited to performance measurement, research impact assessment and delivery of research funding programs (e.g., for scholarships and research projects).
Coordinate and monitor the status of multiple projects to ensure that milestones and deliverables are met.
Develop, document and implement procedures to ensure accurate and reproducible data and consistent delivery of BHI programs.
Data Collection and Analysis
Design, develop and manipulate existing and new database systems.
Define data standards, develop qualitative and quantitative data collection instruments and analytical tools to ensure integrity of data.
Apply a variety of techniques to gather information and data such as surveys, literature reviews, internet-based and library research, document analysis, case studies or other investigative techniques.
Implement data analysis plans, including sophisticated and/or advanced data analyses.
Interpret data, information and/or analytical results to identify key issues, understand trends and support operational and strategic decision making.
Program Design and Implementation
Implement BHI funding programs to support capacity building, research and knowledge mobilization.
Design and test surveys and other tools to enable the submission of applications and assessment of applications by peer reviewers.
Lead peer reviewer recruitment and assignment processes.
Develop and disseminate a variety of messages for applicants and reviewers throughout research funding program implementation. Respond to queries and ensure high client satisfaction.
Prepare decision letters, notices of award and terms and conditions of funding that outline the requirements of researchers and institutions and ensures the administration of funding according to all policies of BHI and uOttawa.
Communication and Reporting
Provide ready access to all BHI performance measurement and impact data for BHI leadership and governance committees.
Summarize in written format (i.e., briefing note, report, presentation) information relating to funding program implementation and results as well as performance measurement and impact assessment techniques, approaches and results for BHI management, governance committees and other audiences.
Develop material on BHI performance measurement and impact data for events such as conferences, seminars and annual reports.
Represent BHI in meetings with researchers, funders and other external stakeholders on topics such as performance metrics, reporting requirements and funding programs.
What you will bring:
Undergraduate degree in related discipline, or a combination of equivalent education and experience. Graduate degree is preferred.
Five years’ experience in research and/or research administration positions or one to two years of research experience with a graduate degree in a relevant discipline.
Knowledge and experience in policies and practices related to research and/or research funding administration.
Strong technical and analytical skills to reliably establish, extract, validate, integrate, and work with complex data sets
Demonstrated experience with qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, ability to interpret data, synthesize information from numerous sources, identify the key elements and present it in a clear, consistent, and verifiable manner.
Demonstrated decision-making, problem-solving, organizational, negotiation, needs assessment and administrative skills;
Ability to succeed in a high-paced, high demand environment with strict deadlines
Ability to work independently, adapt rapidly to change and to demonstrate flexibility and initiative
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple elements of ongoing projects & programs and to coordinate workflows
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment
