The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Ottawa invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, starting July 1, 2026. Priority will be given to the fields of Analysis or Numerical Methods. However, excellent candidates working in all areas of mathematics will be considered. The University of Ottawa is recognized nationally and internationally as a leading university and the largest English-French bilingual university in the world.

Title of the position: Assistant Professor. Higher ranks will be considered subject to budgetary approval.

Terms: New tenure-track position.

Wage: Salary scales for Assistant Professors start at $99,377 (as of May 1, 2025).

Duties: Academic staff functions include:

• teaching;

• scholarly activities such as research, artistic or literary creation, or professional work;

• academic service;

• graduate student supervision.

Skills requirements:

• Education: PhD or equivalent in mathematics or related field.

• Work experience: Candidates should have a proven record of research excellence, be able to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and have the desire and ability to supervise graduate students.

• Bilingualism: Excellent communication skills in either English or French. Active knowledge of one’s second official language (French or English) is a requirement for tenure. English-French bilingualism is an asset.

• Research plan;

• Teaching statement;

• Statement, of at most one page, addressing equity, diversity, and inclusion. This statement should include a commitment to increasing the inclusion and advancement of equity-seeking groups;

• At least four confidential letters of recommendation, one of which addresses teaching, should be submitted via Mathjobs.
