The Telfer School of Management invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions in financial accounting at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor commencing on July 1st, 2026.

Title of position: Professor in financial accounting at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The rank is commensurate with experience.

Duties: Academic staff functions include, in varying proportions: teaching, research, and academic service activities.

  • Teaching activities include: i) strengthening quality teaching activities; ii) having excellent pedagogical practices and teaching-related scholarly activities; iii) providing an active contribution to increase our graduate programs and interdisciplinarity and iv) supervising graduate students.
  • Scholarly activities: Applications are invited from candidates with a proven strong capacity in securing competitive research funding, and who can maintain lofty standards of excellence with an active research agenda in the field of accounting and related areas such as auditing.
  • Graduate student supervision: Supervise students in the Accounting and Control field of Telfer’s Doctorate in Management and in the Accounting field of Telfer’s MSc in Management.
  • Academic service activities: The candidate will be an active member of the Accounting and finance section. Administrative duties will be agreed upon with the section and the Dean.
  • Preferences: The preference will be given to candidates with strong ability to teach in both official languages.

Terms: Vacant tenure-track position.

Wage: The salary scale for an assistant professor starts at $99,377 (as of May 1, 2025).

Skills requirements:

  • Education: Ph.D. in accounting or in a related discipline.
  • Professional designation: Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) - Canada
  • A master's degree in accounting or a related field, together with a CPA designation held for at least three years, may be considered.
  • Work experience: A high-potential research program as demonstrated by articles published in high-quality and high-impact peer-reviewed journals in Accounting and related areas such as auditing. Applicants are expected to demonstrate a track record of success in attracting competitive research funding and an active engagement in the academic community.
  • Language: Excellent communication skills in French. Passive knowledge of one’s second official language (English) is a requirement for tenure. English-French bilingualism is an asset.
  • Other: Demonstrated ability to teach intermediate and advanced financial accounting in French at both undergraduate and graduate levels, including in Telfer's CPA program. In-depth knowledge of IFRS and ASPE is required. The ability to teach in English in these programs is an asset. These positions also require familiarity with the CPA Professional Education Program, and an interest in contributing to the management of the Telfer CPA program, including recruitment, program delivery and liaison with professional accounting institutes. These positions also require the ability to adapt course content to CPA accreditation requirements.
