The Department of Physics of the University of Ottawa invites applications to fill one replacement professor position in Physics, to begin September 1st, 2025. Located on the unceded ancestral territory of the Anishinabé-Algonquin people, the University of Ottawa is at the heart of Canada’s capital with unparalleled opportunity for collaborations with governmental agencies for funding and samples (e.g., Canadian Museum of Nature, GSC).

Title of the position: Replacement Professor in Physics

Duties: The functions of a member of the academic staff include, in varying proportions: teaching activities (six courses per year) and academic service activities. The candidate will be expected to teach in French and English.

Terms: A 2-year contract, renewable

Wage: Salary scales for Assistant Professors start at $99,377 (as of May 1, 2025).

Skills requirements:

  • Education: Ph.D. or equivalent in Physics or a related discipline.

  • Work experience: We are seeking candidates with a proven track record in teaching at the undergraduate level in Physics, in both official languages. Research experience in academia and/or industry will be an asset. Experience in supervising (under)graduate students will also be an asset. The ability of the candidate to participate in more than one of the established research groups will be viewed as an asset. Applicants are encouraged to provide a statement of their research interests and possible research collaborations with members of the department.
