Requirements and Nature of Work:

Support Teacher Candidates who are preparing for the mandatory provincial Math Proficiency Test! The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is tech savvy and has some understanding of how to post information to Brightspace. We are especially interested in applicants who enjoy curating resources for others, who are currently pursing the B.Ed. degree, or who are considering a career in teaching. Future math teachers may find this role very rewarding.

Each week, responsibilities will include curating resources for Teacher Candidates and sharing these on a special Math Proficiency Brightspace course that has been developed -- but that needs regular updating. The successful candidate will also take direction from our special MPT consultant who will provide resources that she believes Teacher Candidates should know and use as they prepare for the test. The candidate may be called on to provide administrative support for workshops focused on the MPT. The dates for this role coincide with the fall and winter MPT testing windows when our Teacher Candidates will have the highest need for recommended resources.

This is an English-language position. Hours are flexible. Most of the work will be completed online. There may be a need to attend in-person workshops. The successful candidate will need to meet with the Director of Teacher Education for regular updates. As this is a new position, the candidate should expect the role to involve a little uncertainty as we iron out the best way to support teacher candidates.
