Job Description

Seeking a Research Assistant with expertise in qualitative data management to support the production of a report on focus group discussions (FGDs) conducted in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region as part of the SAWI (Support and Accelerate Women's Inclusion) project at Telfer School of Management at uOttawa and the American University of Beirut, under the management of Prof. Charlotte Karam. The successful candidate will assist in analyzing qualitative data, providing valuable insights for understanding the key themes emerging from these discussions.

This role is essential for distilling complex information into meaningful, actionable insights, and as such, we are looking for candidates with strong skills in qualitative analysis. Familiarity with the MENA region is an asset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and manage qualitative data from FGDs conducted in the MENA region.
  • Identify key themes, patterns, and insights from qualitative datasets.
  • Prepare and contribute to the drafting of the final report based on the analysis.
  • Collaborate with the research team at uOttawa to ensure findings align with project objectives.
  • Ensure the integrity and confidentiality of the data throughout the analysis process.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Enrollment in a graduate program (Master’s or PhD) in a related field (e.g., Organizational Studies, Management, Human Resource Management, Social Sciences, Anthropology, Gender Studies, Public Health).
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience in qualitative data management and analysis.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in qualitative analysis tools (e.g., NVivo, Atlas.ti, or similar software). Holding a valid Certificate in Human Subject Research Ethics is an asset
  • Communication Skills: Strong writing and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly communicate findings.
  • Language Proficiency: Proficient in English. Arabic and French languages is an asset

-Regional Familiarity: Understanding of the cultural, social, and economic dynamics of the MENA region is an asset.
