Seminar in Medical History. Cultural History of Disease

This seminar will explore our long historical relationship with disease and how our understanding of it, our reactions to it, our attempts to treat it, and what we have learned from it has varied by cultural context, by historical time period, by geography, and even by the ugliness of the disease itself. The course will be thematically-organized, cross-national, and cross-temporal (i.e., ancient, medieval, early modern, and modern).
