Technical Advisor - Machinery Safety

Your tasks
TUV SUD are looking for a Technical Advisor to join our Machinery team who will be responsible for advising clients on the most effective methods of achieving compliance when placing machinery onto a market or putting machinery into use. The successful candidate will always set the highest example of professionalism with the highest standards of client liaison, professionalism and a polite and confidential approach who is always an ambassador for TÜV SÜD.
This is a field-based role that will involve working away from home to deliver services directly on customer sites.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide fee earning machinery services and maintain the targeted utilisation rate of 85%
Complete regulatory compliance assessments of machinery against the requirements of PUWER and where applicable, LOLER.
Perform 3rd party conformity assurance assessments on non ‘high-hazard’ machinery (i.e., non-annex IV machines)
Perform test witnessing of machinery at client sites.
Ensure technical reports are written to a high standard and delivered in good time so that invoicing and operational planning is not impacted.
Ensure all activities are completed safely and conduct set to work risk assessments.
Instigating own stop work authority if any safety issues are discovered on site and reporting the findings to the project co-ordinator and site contact, only resuming work when safety is assured.
Travel nationally and internationally to perform machinery services to fee paying clients.
Drive own utilisation by engagement with the Operations Manager and the Project Co-Ordinator
Your qualifications
Essential Criteria:
Excellent knowledge of PUWER and LOLER regulatory requirements.
Knowledge of UKCA / CE marking requirements of Machinery.
Experience in testing and inspection of mechanical equipment.
IT Literate (Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio)
Excellent communication skills
Excellent technical writing skills
Desirable Criteria:
Professionally Registered - Engineering Technician (Eng Tech)
Member of relevant engineering body (e.g. SOE, IMechE)
