Your tasks

Position Summary:

This full-time position's anticipated annual base pay range is $95,000-$100,000. Actual base pay will be determined based on various factors, including years of relevant experience, training, qualifications, and internal equity. The compensation package may also include an annual bonus target, subject to eligibility and other requirements. The Network Engineer is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and optimization of the organization's network infrastructure. This role provides technical leadership, establishes standards, and oversees network-related initiatives to ensure the stability, security, and scalability of systems. This role involves collaborating with and guiding network administrators in carrying out operational tasks. The primary focus of this position is to deliver on-site support for the New Brighton location while also providing remote support to other locations as needed. Responsibilities include working with cross-functional IT teams, resolving complex network issues, and leading projects to improve the organization's infrastructure. Occasional work outside regular business hours and travel may be required.

Responsibilities:

- Network Infrastructure Design and Implementation

Lead the design and planning of secure and scalable LAN, WAN, and wireless network infrastructures.

Provide guidance and set standards for configuring routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers, ensuring alignment with organizational needs.

Oversee the implementation of VPN solutions for secure remote access by collaborating with network administrators.

- Network Maintenance and Optimization

Develop strategies and provide oversight for monitoring and analyzing network performance, while network administrators execute daily monitoring tasks.

Define best practices for updating, patching, and maintaining network hardware and software, delegating operational execution to network administrators.

Identify opportunities to optimize network configurations for efficiency and scalability and lead initiatives to implement these improvements.

- Network Security

Lead efforts to implement firewalls, intrusion prevention/detection systems (IPS/IDS), and other security measures, while network administrators handle day-to-day maintenance.

Conduct regular reviews of network vulnerabilities and direct mitigation efforts.

Ensure compliance with security policies and regulatory requirements by overseeing security practices implemented by network administrators.

-Troubleshooting and Support

Act as the escalation point for complex network issues that cannot be resolved by network administrators.

Coordinate with vendors and service providers for advanced troubleshooting and resolution of network-related problems.

Maintain documentation standards for network configurations and troubleshooting processes, delegating updates to network administrators.

- Project Management

Lead network-related projects, such as infrastructure upgrades and expansions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Collaborate with IT leadership and cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies and solutions into the existing network.

Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to enhance the network’s performance and security.

Your qualifications

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.

5+ years of experience in network engineering, design, and troubleshooting.

Specific Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Strong understanding of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VLANs).

Proficiency in Cisco or similar network hardware.

Experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark, PRTG).

Knowledge of cloud networking solutions

Knowledge of Azure and cloud solutions

Relevant certifications such as CCNP or CCIE preferred.

Familiarity with leveraging AI-based tools and automation technologies to help with network monitoring, troubleshooting, and other tasks

Strong leadership and project management abilities.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
