Role Overview:
Our team of EMC focused Technicians or Engineers deliver a comprehensive EMC testing service for new and innovative technology and devices from a wide range of industries. The Technician or Engineer will take ownership of the set up and completion of EMC test projects and the accurate delivery of results to customers.
We have a flexible approach to our recruitment and are able to consider candidates at a Technician level offering training to an entry level candidate or engage a more experienced candidate at an Engineer level role. Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Work closely with customers, Engineers and Project Managers to provide EMC testing in both screened enclosure and in-situ environments.
Provide support to customers in advance of, or during, the test programme, particularly communicating issues during any failure phase of their EMC test programme.
Maintain data and electronic logbooks for testing.
Test procedure generation including provision of photos and measurement uncertainty calculations.
Develop test plans (where required) and generate test reports.
Contribute to test equipment / method development and evaluation.
Support the validation of clients’ requirements (which may require site visits).
Offer assistance to the sales team with the provision of technical information to enable quote generation.
Develop as specialist in a specific area of testing i.e. rail, marine, radio EMC requirements, etc.
Provision of training to engineers regarding specialist area.
Your qualifications
Essential Criteria at Technician level:
Manual dexterity and ability/experience using a variety of hand tools
Self driven with an enthusiastic approach and willingness to learn/develop technical skills.
A good attention to detail and ability to follow concise processes
Comfortable dealing with customers at all levels with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Flexible approach to work – willing to work overtime, shift-work or on customer sites when required.
Computer literate with good IT skills, particularly using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and bespoke test systems.
Ability to deliver work independently or as a team, to defined deadlines.
Able to drive with your own vehicle to support offsite testing and shift working.
Conscientious with good interpersonal, customer skills and commercial awareness.
In addition to the above criteria, for an Engineer level role we would also require:
Experience of using test equipment such as a spectrum/network analyser, oscilloscope, signal generator or RF power meter.
Engineering experience in an electronics test based role.
Desirable Criteria for either Technician or Engineer role:
Educated to Level 3 in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, or able to demonstrate relevant practical engineering experience.
Experience in an EMC Test Engineer role within a test house environment
Knowledge and understanding of the EMC Directive and/ or relevant EMC test standards.
Experience running test projects from set up of equipment to completion, including the creation of reports.
