TUV SUD Academy are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Functional Safety Specialist to join our team as a Technical Trainer. As a specialist in this field, you will play a crucial role in delivering technical training to our clients. Your expertise will be instrumental in promoting safe working environments and reducing the risk associated with machinery operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct Technical Training: Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs on functional safety principles, regulations, and standards. This includes providing training sessions to external clients to enhance their knowledge and understanding of safety protocols. You will be expected to update and develop new training courses as part of this role.
Subject Matter Expert: Act as a subject matter expert in functional safety, keeping up to date with the latest industry standards and best practices. Stay informed about regulatory changes and emerging trends to ensure that training programs are current and relevant.
Compliance and Standards: Ensure compliance with relevant international and national safety standards, such as ISO 13849, IEC 62061, and other applicable standards. Stay up-to-date with changes in safety standards and communicate any updates to relevant stakeholders.
Documentation and Reporting: Prepare comprehensive reports and documentation related to training sessions and if required safety assessments and safety improvement plans. Maintain accurate records of training activities, assessment findings, and compliance documentation.
Your qualifications
Essential Criteria – the successful candidate will have:
Extensive experience in functional safety, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of relevant safety standards and regulations, such as ISO 13849, IEC 62061, IEC 61508, IEC 61511, and European directives.
Knowledge regarding techniques and measures to control and avoid systematic errors in both hardware and software
Knowledge in the process of defining, documenting, and maintaining requirements in the engineering design process
Knowledge of the SW development lifecycle and development models
Clear understanding of hardware design and its application
Comprehensive ability for PL and SIL calculation methods
Experience in planning and execution of verification based on analysis and testing (including, for example, fault insertion techniques)
Proven experience in delivering technical training and developing training materials are a must.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner (having a clear ability to deliver to all learning groups).
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyse safety-related issues and provide practical solutions.
Strong organisational skills to manage and prioritise tasks in a timely and concise manner.
Willingness to travel to client sites for training and assessments, as required.
Desirable Criteria – it would also be beneficial, but not essential, to have:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a related field.
Familiarity with safety-related software tools and risk assessment methodologies is an advantage
Professional certifications in functional safety would be an advantage, e.g.
Certified Functional Safety Professional or Expert
