Our Commercial and Farm Insurance team provides financial security to Canadians by offering superior products and services. As the National Portfolio Manager for Commercial, you will oversee the performance of the portfolio using data analytics methods in decision making and provide technical direction and guidance for product wordings, guidelines, endorsements, and pricing. You will work closely with the product team, providing directional leadership on the application of business rules and underwriting guidelines to support management of the portfolio.

How you will create impact:

  • Applying data analytics and optimization to drive portfolio performance, ensuring effective loss prevention and compliance while developing action plans to support profitability and growth objectives.
  • Providing direction for projects and managing multiple business initiatives, tasks and analysis with key stakeholders.
  • Formulating business rules, underwriting guidelines, risk appetite and portfolio philosophies.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders regarding product pricing and deviations, developing portfolio initiatives, enforcing best practices, ensuring gaps are managed and change is sustained.
  • Remaining informed of industry trends impacting national and international insurance markets, tracking competitors and emerging client needs, identifying enhanced product offerings and creating strategic partnerships with industry stakeholders.

To join our team:

  • You have 10 years of experience in a product, analysis or insurance environment.
  • You have post-secondary education in Business, Finance, Actuarial Science or Statistics.
  • You have or are working towards the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) or Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP) designation(s) or Associate/Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS/FCAS)
  • You have working knowledge of the Commercial product model, tools and systems, related markets and external influences impacting products.
  • This position primarily works with majority non-francophone groups, and teams located outside of Québec, and requires proficiency in English. The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.

Expected salary range $91,058 - $151,764+.

The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.

Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
