The Manager, Retail Sales is responsible for driving the achievement of Co-operators' annual sales, client growth and policy renewal targets. The Manager provides leadership and support to Advisors who own and operate their own business. The Advisors employ a team that engages with clients as distributors of the products and services provided (or sourced) by Co-operators. The Manager, Retail Sales is responsible for creating trusted relationships with the Advisors and their teams, providing targeted sales coaching, performance management and business planning support to achieve yearly and quarterly goals. Additionally, the Manager, Retail Sales is responsible for ensuring that Advisors are representing Co-operators' brand, culture and vision, positively impacting both the Advisors and company success.
How you will create impact:
- Manage performance and create a high- performance culture by aligning Advisors, their staff and direct reports’ work with organizational goals, linking rewards to outcomes, and creating a sense of ownership in accomplishing objectives.
- Engage and motivate direct report Advisor support resource; enable and hold direct report accountable for focus on role priorities, targets and performance expectations; recognition and rewards are aligned to priorities and expectations and promote engagement.
- Holds Advisors and their staff accountable for optimal use of corporate tools, data and sales management practices.
- Keep Advisors aware of relevant/up-to-date market opportunity intelligence, by utilizing an expert understanding of data sources and models, and providing interpretation, insights and recommendations to Advisors.
- Ensure Advisor/Agencies are effectively utilizing Co-operator provided resources (e.g. expert technical and sales support in life, wealth & investment and commercial lines of business).
- Partner with advisors and product consultants, as needed, to provide coaching on joint sales and case consultations as needed across commercial, farm, home, auto, life and wealth.
- Ensure targeted/role-appropriate working relationships with consultant resources who will coach development of Advisors and their staff on technical knowledge of advice based products and sales practices.
- Work closely with Co-operators Agency Planning team on a semi-annual basis to drive business planning with Advisors with their staff.
- Adhere to the business planning process and timeline, leveraging established templates to conduct detailed business planning with each Advisor / Agency in the assigned region.
How you will succeed:
- Identify issues and root causes of resistance when lack of alignment becomes evident and develop tactics to overcome these challenges.
- Provide strategic consultation to Advisors, leveraging data-driven insights to optimize business operations and capitalize on market opportunities.
- Assess and plan timely course corrections based on ongoing reviews and assessments to better achieve targets.
To join our team:
- Having the General Insurance, Life and Mutual Fund Licenses is required or will need to attain in 6 months
- Having the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) or Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation(s) will need to be attained within an agreed upon time frame
- Ability to develop and implement effective sales performance management strategies that align with corporate goals and drive profitable growth.
- Skill in building and maintaining trusted relationships with Advisors through proactive consultation and partnering approaches.
- Proficiency in utilizing data sources and reporting to provide market insights and recommendations to Advisors.
- Expertise in holding Advisors accountable for optimal use of corporate tools, data, and sales management practices.
- Strong understanding of P&C, life, wealth, farm and commercial lines of business to provide expert technical and sales support.
- Understanding of business planning and business requirements / levers for driving sales.
