TI’s Law Department is seeking a highly motivated attorney experienced in regulatory and governmental matters to join our legal team. This role will place you in a dynamic environment supporting a global semiconductor business where you will serve as a trusted advisor, helping TI leaders navigate a rapidly evolving legal and regulatory landscape.
In this role, you will be an individual contributor providing legal analysis of new and proposed Chinese laws and regulations, advising on business impact, and providing practical and actionable recommendations. The position is based in TI’s Shanghai office and involves close collaboration with our Shanghai-based Government Relations team, as well as China-based counsel. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of legislative and regulatory processes, excellent communication and advocacy skills, and the ability to effectively represent the company’s interests. Key topics include trade and export control. Candidates must have a law degree and be admitted to practice law.
Roles and responsibilities
- Provide legal advice on legal and regulatory changes, including coordinating with stakeholders to assess impact to TI and develop public policy positions.
- Monitor, analyze, and proactively communicate emerging legal and regulatory changes impacting the semiconductor industry.
- Advise on compliance plans associated with legal and regulatory changes.
- Prepare a variety of written communications such as legal updates.
- Partner with cross functional stakeholders (including government relations, communications, logistics) to respond to government consultations and inquiries.
- Maintain strong communications channels between relevant internal teams.
- Some domestic and occasional international travel required.

Minimum requirements:
- Law degree from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law
- At least 4 years of experience in government matters and regulatory law
Preferred qualifications:
- Strong understanding of legislative and regulatory processes
- Prior work in a government agency or experience working closely with a government agency
- Experience with trade and export control regulations
- Ability to give practical, strategic, business-oriented advice and recommendations
- Ability to establish strong relationships and to collaborate effectively with key stakeholders, both internally and externally
- Strong time management skills that enable executing with urgency on critical projects
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and drive for results
