The Head of Commercial Product Marketing leads a high-performing team, supporting multi-complex portfolios on the development and execution of Marketing strategy planning and annual portfolio planning. This role acts as a key contributor in influencing business operational decisions and is the steward for TD AMCB Commercial products and services, ensuring they are relevant and compelling to our customers and consistent with the overarching TD brand. This requires an ability to develop an integrated marketing plan with a clear understanding of how marketing investment drives account growth across all channels. As a people manager, this role is additionally accountable for continuing to grow the Marketing professionals to bring innovation to the business by providing ongoing feedback and performance reviews, coaching and developing employees, ensuring performance management activities are undertaken and providing regular input into employee assessments and development plans to continue to bring innovation to the work produced by the Marketing and portfolio team(s).
Depth & Scope:
- Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork and handling any/all disciplinary actions, as required
- Oversees and leads TD AMCB's Commercial products and services portfolios, which consists of large and/or highly complex and diverse portfolios with significant complexity, scope or risk
- Accountable for growing talent and developing the skills and capabilities needed to achieve career goals, support project/initiative success and achieve business results
- Oversees the successful design of marketing plans and/or customer-centric programs and relevant project plans, incorporating full range of marketing resources and distribution channels. Determines and acts on long-term marketing and customer strategies to ensure they are effectively supporting the business line needs
- Builds and maintains close relationships with senior business partners. Ensures ongoing successful communication of strategic direction of the marketing plans. Acts as key integrator/liaison between business lines, enterprise and marketing department, influencing and negotiating options to enable the achievement of successful and profitable marketing campaigns
- Leads and approves campaigns and oversees marketing execution for all projects within portfolio; plays a leadership role in all BU campaigns to ensure strategy execution, appropriate governance and stakeholder approvals are delivered
- Provides coaching, mentorship and guidance to practitioners, business and executives within area of expertise
- Manages and oversees the overall discipline and strategy for the respective areas while aligning to the enterprise best practices
- Acts as a strategic partner to the leadership team on the management of the portfolio and financials, using deep industry, external/internal, enterprise knowledge and recognizing and anticipating emerging trends; identifies operational efficiencies and opportunities with other business management/enterprise areas
- Facilitates key strategic discussions and provides thought leadership to executive audience (output may include strategic roadmap and/or deliverables/frameworks/short- to long-term goals, etc.)
- Sets operational team direction and collaborates with others to execute on common goals
- Focuses on longer-range planning for functional area (e.g. 12 months or greater)
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience required; MBA preferred
- 15+ years relevant experience
- Advanced knowledge of multiple marketing disciplines, strategy development, consulting principles, lines of businesses supported, banking industry and product/customer markets
- Knowledge of current and emerging competitor and market trends
- Knowledge of risk management environment, standards and regulations
- Ability to contribute to strategic direction of the function and provide advice to senior leadership
- Ability to forecast initiatives and demand in order to develop annual strategic plan
- Skill in managing budgets, P&L and resource allocation
- Advanced ability to lead, plan, implement and evaluate program/project activities to ensure completion of product initiatives
- Skill in talent development and performance management
- Ability to exercise sound judgement in making decisions

Customer Accountabilities:
- Customer Insights & Trends: Coaches team to understand and synthesize consumer trends, identify research gaps and plan market research, interpret consumer information for your business, anticipate customer opportunities, generate and apply customer insights
- Builds and Protects the Brand: Identifies the Brand's strengths and weaknesses, recognizes the drivers and indicators of brand health and recommends corrective actions. Applies the Brand House to all aspects of marketing and acts as the key resource for the business on the Brand. Understands end-to-end customer journeys and supports the business to deliver the Brand through customer experience
- Influences Business Strategy: Provides thought leadership, strategic advice to executives within the business, acts as the voice of the customer and a trusted advisor to business partners for all marketing and customer activities. Influences and has an impact on price, product, distribution and promotions. Builds and maintains close working relationships with key business partners to understand and influence business strategic priorities, and direction, ensuring that business objectives can be converted into effective marketing plans or customer strategies
- Business Marketing Plan Owner: Sets the tone and ensures the integrity of the approved Annual Marketing Plan is being delivered in a transparent way. Constantly evaluates and recommends changes to improve business impact via marketing investment
- Integrated Marketing Campaigns: Leads and approves campaigns and oversees marketing execution for all projects within assigned limits and parameters to ensure strategy execution, appropriate governance and stakeholder approvals are delivered. Coaches and leads the team through the development of budget allocations, media strategy and creative executions. Leverages and builds relationships with internal/external lead creative and media agencies
Shareholder Accountabilities:
- Works closely with key business leaders to develop business plan, ensuring the optimal use of resources and leveraging TD’s operating model to maximize efficiency, effectiveness and scale
- Plans and executes on strategic activities, reviews and communicates results, and adjusts tactics accordingly
- Executes on the annual business plan to deliver results aligned with business strategies
- Manages overall budget, revenue and expenditures; meets business objectives while increasing efficiency and effectiveness
- Proactively identifies key business opportunities, research and recommends enhancements/modifications; develops strategies to achieve recommendations and works closely with team to execute and implement

- Monitors and communicates the effectiveness of strategies, programs and practices related to own area of expertise
