Job Description:
The Windows Lifecycle team is responsible for maintaining standards for Microsoft Windows Server OS, ESX virtualization and X86 based hardware as well as infrastructure configuration and implementation for Windows deployments.
The Windows Lifecycle team with in TDBFG are a unique group of individuals focused on OS and stack component support, upgrade deploys and proactively improve the services we offer, while also being the gate keepers to ensure technology in our data centers is supportable for all in Operations and meets the standards of the organization.
Job Description / Accountabilities:
- Lead the technical analysis and assessment of new submitted client OS support in-take requests, working closely with our technology and business partners to address submitted requests.
- Ensure resulting solutions meet the needs of our business clients and stakeholders while adhering to the bank’s technology and quality standards.
- Maintain an understanding of business and technology directions as well as technology developments and industry trends.
- Review and comment on the design, development and implementation of solutions in partnership with engineering leads and architects.
- Attention to detail while providing Windows OS support for our 2008 through 2022 platforms.
- Act as point of escalation for unresolved Windows Server OS, ESX and UCS virtualization and hardware technical issues and work with vendors, consultants and partners in other TS areas to develop solutions.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationship with the various line of business/ ITS Management.
- Required to review and provide input into project objectives and timelines (designing/building/testing/deploying).
- Ensure timely and accurate communication and resolution\escalation of issues.
- Monitor service delivery against commitments, prioritizing work activities.
- Follow documented operational procedures and processes with minimal guidance from the team such as equipment requisitioning, network requisition, inventory and asset management.
- Analyze day-to-day processes for areas and methods of improvement.
- Provide technical guidance to Build team and support staff.
- Liaise with Engineering Teams to address system wide issues.
- Liaise with Engineering Teams to understand net new technology being deployed and how it impacts Operational Teams. Ensure it meets operational readiness requirements.
- Liaise with external vendors in providing support for our HP/Lenovo/Cisco UCS hardware.
Specific Educational Requirements / Accreditations Preferred:
- MCSE/VMWare VCP.
- College/University Graduate in Computer Studies.
Other Qualifications / Skills / Experience:
- Excellent customer service track record.
- Minimum 7 years of experience building, deploying and administering Microsoft Server Operating Systems (Windows 2008 through Windows 2022).
- Expert problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and Windows Server OS issues.
- In depth knowledge regarding IBM/HP/Cisco UCS server hardware (rack mount and blade technologies).
- A thorough understanding of Microsoft Active Directory (AD) and security policies (GPO).
- In depth knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, MS Clustering.
- Familiar with the latest Cloud technologies (Azure, VMWare, etc.).
- Familiar with hardware monitoring tools such as HPSIM and IBM Director.
- Familiar with scripting and automation tools such as PowerShell and Python.
- Knowledge of file/print environment configurations.
- Understanding of Storage Area Networks (SAN).
- Must be able to prioritize, working independently and in a team environment.
- Highly organized and process driven.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Familiar with change management best practices.
- Familiar with ITIL.
