The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Manager, Field Operations Support, the Technical Support Engineer will provide high-quality on-site technical set-up for multi-faceted wireless communication projects that include server, RF, and other hardware components. As a member of our Customer Operations team, you will support our customers by providing expertise in the installation and deployment of the TRUConnect AMI solution, while ensuring Tantalus meets or exceeds customer expectations. When not travelling, you will be aiding our Technical Support team to resolve customer issues through various troubleshooting tools and training. Once familiar with systems and troubleshooting, you will have the opportunity to be placed on a rotating on-call schedule to facilitate critical customer issues after-hours.
Location of Position & Travel Requirements:
This position will be based remotely in or around Houston or Livingston, TX. The Technical Support Engineer will support customer on-site operations with moderate travel initially, increasing to up to 75% travel over time. Candidates must be located within 60 minutes of a major metropolitan airport.
Specifically, the Technical Support Engineer will:
- Coordinate and oversee all onsite technical set-up including site surveys, installation, configuration, and other associated details of various products
- Support customers in solving complex product problems on-site or remotely
- Support customer server operations including spin-up, monitoring, troubleshooting and updating of proprietary software
What you Bring:
Education and Experience:
- 1+ years’ experience involving direct customer interaction and support
- Command-line experience in either Linux or Unix, and ability to write SQL queries to Oracle and SQL databases
- Hands-on experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, multimeters, etc.
Desirable Experience:
- 1+ years’ experience in large network implementations
- AMI/AMR, RF or Wireless communications
- Implementing and integrating information technology and/or communication systems
- Deploying communications equipment and networks
