The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Director of Solutions Engineering, the Solution Engineer plays a key role in driving the success of Tantalus products and solutions. The Solution Engineer is responsible for effectively communicating Tantalus’ value proposition, providing technical guidance throughout the sales process, and ensuring seamless integration of Tantalus products into customer environments. Additionally, the Solution Engineer supports deal closure by leveraging expertise in technical solutions for distribution utilities.
Location of Position & Travel:
This position will be based remotely within the U.S from your home-based office, or Tantalus office location in Norwalk, Connecticut or Raleigh, North Carolina. This position will require up to 50% travel for corporate meetings, industry conferences, and customer visits.
Specifically, the Solution Engineer will:
- Work closely with Tantalus sales team members to effectively communicate Tantalus’ value proposition and solutions to customers.
- Engage with customers to understand technical requirements, lead technical engagements, present solutions, and coordinate proof-of-concept demonstrations.
- Contribute to, and drive strategies for enhanced customer engagement and business growth.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to align solutions with customer needs and market trends.
- Contribute to the development of sales enablement materials, technical documentation, and best practices to streamline the sales process.
- Provide competitive insights to the sales team to strengthen positioning in the market.
- Represent the company at industry events, webinars, and conferences to showcase technical expertise.
- Work closely with industry representatives and distributors to support business objectives.
What you Bring:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering (or equivalent).
- 5+ years’ experience in a technical discipline within a distribution utility such as engineering, or operations.
- Strong understanding of utility distribution challenges and value propositions related to areas of operation including SCADA, operational technology, IT, AMI/Smart Grid, metering and Distributed Energy Resources.
- Strong understanding of the competitive players and vendors involved in the distribution side of the utility industry.
- Strong understanding of smart grid/utility sales cycles.
- Experience in partner and customer relationship management.
- Ability to understand and design system solutions of a complex nature.
