As a Network Management System (NMS)/Element Management System (EMS) Specialist, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the network by designing, implementing and maintaining EMS and NMS. Your role will be instrumental in optimizing network performance, enhancing efficiency, and ensuring a seamless customer experience.
What you'll do
- Design, develop, implement and enhance EMS and NMS applications to monitor and manage Carrier Ethernet and IP customer services and network resources, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Work closely with vendors to evaluate and implement new EMS/NMS solutions and stay up to date with industry trends.
- Review and approve design and development solution documents, internal and external test strategies, plans and scripts.
- Develop and maintain accurate and up to date documentation of EMS/NMS requirements, configurations, processes and procedures.
- Implement real time network monitoring solutions to proactively identify and resolve network issues, minimizing downtime.
- Investigate and resolve complex NMS implementation and network problems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement effective solutions.
- Develop and maintain automated scripts and tolls to streamline network operations and improve efficiency.
- Implement and enforce security best practices to protect network systems and data integrity.
- Analyze network performance data and provide insights for capacity planning and network optimization.
What you'll need to get the job done
- Bachelor's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Network Engineering, or a related field.
- 3-6 years of experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated knowledge of design principles, and specifications for standardized and interoperable NMS Systems.
- Solid knowledge of NMS protocols and modelling languages such as: NETCONF/RESTCONF, gRPC/gNMI, gNOI, YANG, UML.
- Working experience in one of NMS tools and platforms such as Netcracker Digital OSS, ONAP, Ciena Blue Planet, Amdocs.
- Knowledge in Carrier Ethernet technologies, standards, and protocols.
- The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program (CGP).
What will make us REALLY love you
- Familiarity with TMForum Open Digital Architecture (ODA), Process Framework (eTOM), TMForum APIs.
- Familiarity with CloudEvents, OpenMetrics, Openflow, ONF TAPI, and Information Framework (SID).
- Familiarity with Model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
- Knowledge of MEF Lifecycle Service Orchestration (MEF LSO APIs) framework.
