About the Role:

Subway is seeking a highly strategic and data-driven executive to serve as Vice President of Third-Party Delivery (3PD). This role owns the global third-party delivery business, with full accountability for strategy, platform performance, profitability, and franchisee outcomes. Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, this leader will be responsible for accelerating profitable growth across all major 3PD platforms while strengthening Subway's competitive position in digital delivery.

The VP of 3PD will oversee P&L ownership, platform negotiations, advertising and promotional strategy, operational execution, and cross-functional alignment across Marketing, Operations, Technology, and Analytics. Success in this role requires a deep understanding of platform economics, restaurant operations, and digital marketing, paired with the ability to lead teams, influence senior stakeholders, and deliver scalable results across a complex franchise system.

Definition of Success:

Consistent, profitable growth across third-party delivery platforms that delivers strong returns for both Subway and its franchisees.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Strategic & Commercial Leadership

    • Own the global 3PD P&L and define the long-term strategy to drive sustainable revenue, margin, and franchisee profitability.
    • Develop and execute Subway's end-to-end 3PD roadmap, including platform partnerships, pricing, promotions, advertising, and customer experience.
    • Lead annual Joint Business Planning (JBP) negotiations with third-party delivery partners, clearly articulating platform-specific P&L drivers for the brand and franchisees.
    • Identify and size new growth opportunities across advertising, promotions, platform capabilities, and operational improvements, prioritizing initiatives based on ROI and impact.
    • Develop a differentiated 3PD strategy that leverages Subway's product, positioning, and pricing to create competitive advantage across platforms.

    Advertising, Promotions & Performance Optimization

    • Own advertising and promotional strategy across 3PD platforms, with a granular understanding of tactics to maximize ROAS and conversion.
    • Establish clear performance metrics and dashboards to track ROAS, profitability, customer acquisition, repeat rates, and franchisee economics.
    • Use data and analytics to inform investment decisions, optimize spend, and continuously improve platform performance.

    Operational & Technology Enablement

    • Partner closely with Operations and IT to ensure strong execution both on the platforms and within restaurants.
    • Drive improvements in order accuracy, speed, and overall delivery experience through operational best practices and technology enhancements.
    • Ensure seamless integration between restaurants, franchisees, delivery platforms, and internal systems to support scalable growth.

    Cross-Functional Leadership & Influence

    • Serve as a key leader within Subway's Marketing Leadership Team, contributing to broader enterprise strategy and priorities.
    • Collaborate with senior leaders including the President of North America, CTO, and North America CMO to align 3PD initiatives with company objectives.
    • Communicate opportunities, trade-offs, and priorities clearly to executive stakeholders and drive accountability once alignment is achieved.

    Team Leadership & Talent Development

    • Lead and develop a high-performing third-party delivery organization, including direct oversight of the Director of 3PD.
    • Assess team capabilities, recruit top talent, and make changes quickly when needed to ensure strong execution.
    • Motivate teams through clarity of objectives, accountability, and purpose in a fast-moving, high-growth environment.

Qualifications:

  • 10-15+ years of leadership experience in third-party delivery, digital commerce, QSR, restaurant, or consumer platforms.
  • Proven success owning and scaling a P&L with measurable impact on revenue, margin, and profitability.
  • Deep understanding of third-party delivery platform economics, advertising models, and promotional levers.
  • Strong restaurant operations knowledge and ability to translate operational improvements into financial impact.
  • Highly analytical and data-driven, with experience using dashboards and KPIs to guide decision-making.
  • Exceptional collaborator with a track record of leading cross-functional initiatives across marketing, operations, and technology.
  • Strong executive communication skills, comfortable influencing C-suite leaders and franchise stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
