JOB SUMMARY:
The CNC Programmer creates CNC programs utilized in the process of machining parts. They will set up and operate all types of machine tools, such as but not limited to lathes, milling machines, CNC, grinders, saws and lappers to be used to machine metal, plastic or other pieces to specifications, tooling instructions or standard charts by applying knowledge of machine methods.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Generate accurate and efficient CNC programs utilizing Cam Works Programming Software.
- Create accurate and efficient set-up sheets and prints.
- Work as a team and communicate effectively verbally and written with co-workers, engineering and design groups.
- Create and modify product fixtures and tools using machine equipment and techniques acquired by experience.
- Create and modify prototype parts, fixtures, and engineering tooling as directed.
- Guide and mentor Machinist as needed.
- Assist maintenance mechanics and technicians when necessary.
- Set-up and operate VMC and HMC.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: High School or Equivalent
- Experience Years: 3-5 years
- Experience Type: Machine Shop/Trade School OR Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Work with close tolerance and strong interpersonal skills, attention to details.
- Work with shop machinery.
- Select the required cutting tools and the appropriate feeds and speed.
- Edit and modify G-code based CNC programs.
- Blueprint interpretation and geometric tolerance.
- Proficient with CNC, VMC, HMC and turning center, milling machine, surface grinder, lathe, drill press, various saws and cutting tools, grinders and related hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of Solid Works and CAM works, CAM programming, CMM inspection and GDT Tolerancing.
