JOB SUMMARY: The Electrical/Mechanical Designer maintains the part numbering system, creates and revises drawings per engineers’ requests, builds bill of materials, routers and assists with the layout of new or modified products.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Use AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Cadence, ORCAD and other utilities to create and revise electrical/mechanical product drawings from engineering change notices to keep track of product revisions; perform product layout activities using software tools to verify if parts will fit together or to help the engineer visualize their design; and create illustrations of assembly methods used in manufacturing.
- Assign part numbers for documentation from final products and purchased parts, and to inspection techniques and travel tickets.
- Maintain up-to-date computer information on engineering designs and processes.
- Directly involved with design engineering performing printed circuit layout, mechanical design, special took design and thin and thick film amplifier design.
- Perform drafting support functions as instructed by the supervisor.
- Data Entry into AS400 (KBM System).
- Provide training and back up as required by supervisor.
- Process Engineering Change Notices through company database.
- Assist other work sites as directed by the CAD and Documentation Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent AND
- 2+ years of technical school training in mechanical drafting and design or related discipline OR 2+ years in an engineering design drafting related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Cadence, and ORCAD software.
- Experience in Symbols creation/footprints in ORCAD.
- Experience with Corel Draw.
- Experience numbering systems for parts.
- Use of calipers, calculators, and board drafting equipment.
- Ability to use Cad handbooks.
- Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
