JOB SUMMARY: The Materials Manager manages and coordinates the activities of the Materials department. They oversee operations and execute tasks relative to materials scheduling, customer service, shipping, receiving, distribution, purchasing, supply chain management and production scheduling. They have experience implementing visual-based replenishment systems, driving inventory levels and master schedule based on SIOP. They also will work with commodity managers to implement strategic sourcing strategies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Formulate and maintain supply chain objectives complimentary to corporate policies and in support of strategic initiatives and goal deployment targets.
- Develop charts, pivots, and graphical representations of material flow and KPI's to streamline the workflow of planners and buyers.
- Plan and support for MMP product to support other sites within the organization.
- Develop schedules related to budgets, forecasts, and customer orders; produce production plans and materials requirements; and monitor delivery performance.
- Maintain systems to ensure inventory optimization and appropriate replenishment strategies.
- Define and implement systems for planning and service activity to ensure customer expectations are met.
- Establish, review, and maintain planning-related parameters in ERP System.
- Review and monitor supply/demand information and take appropriate actions to ensure material availability in support of production schedules.
- Ensure material availability based on forecasts and usage to support production requirements while preventing excess. Establish measurements and maintain inventory accuracy.
- Release, monitor, and maintain work orders in line with production schedules.
- Manage all transactions and material handling functions with regard to receiving inbound materials and managing flow/movement to manufacturing point of use (including planning, set-up and execution of shop floor replenishment processes).
- Control and optimizes inventories to meet defined levels and turns.
- Develop programs to continuously improve.
- Improve methods and processes to increase productivity and quality while reducing costs.
- Increase inventory accuracy through monitoring of daily warehouse activities, cycle counts, receiving procedures, and audits; resolve inventory discrepancies quickly and effectively.
- Communicate any issues or delays in shipments to impacted areas with corrective action plans and timing for resolution.
- Motivate teams to develop and implement cost reduction programs, improve delivery performance, and eliminate returns.
- Lead inventory right-sizing initiatives.
- Contribute to and participate in SIOP.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree
- Experience Years: 5-8 years
- Experience Type: Business Admin, Operations or Supply OR
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- APICS CPIM or CSCP
- Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.) with a heavy emphasis on Excel. Macros experience desired.
- Experience using MRP/ERP Systems in a production environment
- Experience with inventory controls, logistics, import/export compliance, lean manufacturing
- Knowledge of safety practices and procedures relating to warehouse operations
