Job summary:

Project Management of a key customer defence programme, including, management of current and future component obsolescence, management of re-design and cost down activities, planning and implementing production capacity to meet increased customer order needs, process improvement through lifetime of project. In addition, the project manager will acts as key customer interface, working with the Strategic Account Manager, to manage repairs and returns of items returned under warranty, as well as development and launch of new products.

Main responsibilities:

  • Project Management of hi-rel/ defence contracts. Understanding of project requirements and standards
  • Overall accountability for schedule and budget
  • Co-ordinating multi-disciplinary engineering and manufacturing teams for development and production phase, including any necessary qualification activities Customer interface, support regular meetings, and provide reports. Co-ordinate design reviews
  • Adherence to internal PM processes, follow Earned Value reporting as part of monthly reporting process
  • Preparation and submission of appropriate customer documentation (Project Management Plan, schedule etc) as part of deliverable datapack
  • Use of company ERP tool for management of costs and requisitions
  • Support bids and proposals as required, including bid management and definition of budget
  • Understanding of change management process, including obsolescence identification, and management
  • Ability to understand, plan and implement production processes and equipment to meet required production volumes. Work with Process Engineering Manager to identify solutions perform necessary trade-offs and perform qualification of lines and processes to meet demand

Education/ qualifications:

  • Degree qualified (BEng or similar)
  • Formal Project Management training (PRINCE2, PMI or similar)

Knowledge and experience:

  • Experience of managing projects up to £10M
  • Understanding of Industry including relevant standards and requirements
  • ERP tools in a project environment
  • Knowledge of working for/with Prime organisations
  • Knowledge of planning for production
