Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities and we are always looking for bright new talent to join our team! We currently have a full-time opportunity for an Application Developer. This role can be based out of one our main offices including: Stellarton, NS; Mississauga, ON; Alberta, AB.
Here’s where you’ll be focusing:
As an Applications Developer with Sobeys, you will:
- Application Expertise - In depth knowledge of the application(s) within the Product Team Portfolio. Maintain up-to-date expertise in the application(s) and support the team in translating product needs into enhancement sand or fixes for the supported application.
- Application Development - Support the Product Team at each phase of the development life cycle: Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), design, build, testing, deployment, and release. Design the applications to ensure both the business and architectural needs are met including adhering to standards ,patterns, and reference models.
- Write quality code adhering to industry best practices.
- Develop new applications adhering to technical specifications.
- Add enhancements to existing applications in line with the product roadmap.
- Use testing-based defect resolution for bug tracing and fixing defects.
- Participate in various scrum ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning and sprint retrospectives.
- Work with analysts to understand work packages.
- Accurately estimate development duration based on technical specifications.
- Participate in both project work and support activities as assigned.

What you have to offer:
Your experience and resume will show us:
- An Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent).
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with SAP CDC / Gigya preferred.
- Experience with Identity and Access Management required.
- Knowledge of soft ware development techniques to code and test solutions such as unit testing, object-oriented design techniques, etc.
- Experience in soft ware engineering and solution delivery methodologies.
- Technical knowledge of one or more programming languages including C# and SQL, along with associated application development tools, i.e. visual studio.
- Working knowledge of various source code repositories such as TFS or GIT.
- Problem solving skills and attention to detail
- Nice to have – knowledge of older coding languages such as VB or Delphi and knowledge of work management tools such as Jira/Confluence.
