Job Description

Technical Director of Model Integration

Skyworks Solutions seeks a skilled device modeling technical director who will play a key role in the development of Skyworks’ SAW technologies. This technical director will develop/automate / integrate Finite Element Modeling flows for BAW and/or SAW technology. He/she will work closely with both US and Asian engineering teams. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge and experience in working with semiconductor and/or MEMs devices and test methodologies required by such devices. Knowledge of BAW/SAW resonator technology is desired. The candidate will have the ability to function effectively in a multi-cultural, multi-geographic environment and must also be able to collaborate well with other engineers to achieve divisional objectives. The candidate may be asked to travel to Asia to collaborate across different design and development engineering sites to proliferate modeling methodologies and/or techniques that he/she has developed.

Key responsibilities:

• Work seamlessly as a member of Skyworks’ acoustic development group to advance BAW/SAW and other MEMs technologies.

• Construct Finite Element Models (FEM) in collaboration with other device modeling engineers.

• Analyze data and statistical data from advanced metrology systems including acoustic vibrometers and thermal imagers.

• Integrating model flows including FEM, compact circuit models, miscellaneous scripts, and so forth.

• Setup FEM simulation server sharing / structured data bases

Key outcomes that are desired:

• Accelerate BAW roadmap for next generation devices having reduced size, performance, and cost.

• Good at multitasking at two or more projects at once.

• Geared toward being a team player, contributing to a seamless interface between BAW development
teams in the US and Asia.

Qualifications

• Must have 15 years of relevant experience of which at least 5 years of relevant Finite Element Modeling (FEM) experience.

• Master’s degree in engineering, physics, or chemistry is required. PhD degree is preferred.

• A proven track record as a team player on an engineering team, preferably with experience functioning effectively in a multi-cultural, multi-geographic engineering environment. >5 years of industry or university experience is preferred.

• Deep understanding and knowledge of electromagnetic theory and circuit design.

• Deep understanding in either semiconductors and/or acoustic devices.

• Knowledge in semiconductor process or MEMs technology is desirable.

• Strong skills in data analytics -- programming & scripting -- is desirable.

• Demonstrated strong communication /presentation skills.

• Experience mentoring junior engineers.

• Strong leadership skills in directing teams.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $136,800 - $271,500 per year per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. Benefits include access to healthcare benefits (including a premium-free medical plan option), a 401(k) plan and company match, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness, parental leave), among others.
