We are looking for a Manufacturing Support Engineer to join our Rolling Stock Engineering team at the brand-new Siemens Mobility manufacturing facility in Goole, East Yorkshire. In this role, you’ll provide first-line engineering support across all phases of production, helping to resolve technical challenges, drive continuous improvement, and ensure our trains are built to the highest quality and safety standards
You’ll make a difference by:
  • Acting as the key engineering link between Rolling Stock Engineering, Manufacturing, and Project Technical Managers to resolve design and production issues.
  • Providing fast, effective engineering support on the shop floor, developing repair solutions for manufacturing or supplier-related errors.
  • Checking engineering drawings and technical documentation for accuracy, manufacturability, and completeness, ensuring any issues are captured and resolved.
  • Creating red-pencil shop drawings, technical modification proposals, and maintaining accurate “as-built” documentation throughout production.
  • Supporting Industrial Engineering and Manufacturing teams with technical queries, modification execution, and tolerance deviation clarifications.
  • Processing and responding to fault reports and clarification requests, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently and escalated where required.
  • Championing Product Safety, reporting critical deviations, and contributing to continuous improvement across engineering and manufacturing processes.
Your success will be grounded by:
  • Educated to HNC Level 4 or equivalent, and working towards a professional engineering accreditation or achieved.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing technologies and processes.
  • Advanced understanding of rolling stock products, design, and Product Safety responsibilities.
  • Experience implementing technical changes within a UK Rolling Stock project environment.
  • Technical competence across Mechanical, Electrical, Software, or Systems Engineering relating to rolling stock.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, and effective decision-making skills.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365.
Preferred
  • Previous experience in the UK rail industry within engineering safety change management.
  • Familiarity with UK rail safety standards and documentation management.
  • German or Austrian intercultural experience.
