Position Overview:
Siemens Mobility Rail Division has an immediate opening for an Engineering management position owning the Electro-mechanical Integration group for all product lines (Locomotives, Passenger Coaches, Light Rail).
The candidate will have responsibility for all aspects of electro-mechanical design and integration of rail vehicle projects developed in Sacramento and will work on sophisticated designs involving high voltage, high-power and safety applications on fast paced transit consists of powered by clean diesel, hybrid, and zero-emission technology.
We are looking for an expert teammate guiding a diverse group of up to 10 Engineers in completing large existing and new contracts through all stages of their respective projects' lifecycle.
What your day-to-day will look like:
• guiding reporting roles such as Harness, cable duct or switch cabinet designers in preparing outputs for internal and external stakeholders such as 3D models and 2D drawings for project execution, production or various R&D concepts
• structure and schedule their work within the budget constraints of the projects while balancing the needs of the platform, relevant standards and never compromising on safety
• set expectations for work outcomes and supervise the progress and report to superiors
• manage group resource needs via interviewing, hiring, promoting, or firing employees when necessary
• participate in bid activities for potential new customers, internal strategic planning, platform development
• communicate progress and deliverables across the organization
• optimize design for cost, ease of assembly/installation, maintainability and reliability
• interface between the needs of the electrical and mechanical design and systems engineering groups
To thrive in this role, you have:
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with 5 or more years of relevant experience, or an associate degree in mechanical engineering with 8 or more years of relevant experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience leading employees, including goal setting, scheduling work, and performance monitoring.
• Strong social skills for representing the Electro-mechanical Integration group in customer meetings, alignment calls, and collaborating across departments and with suppliers.
• Proven experience creating and overseeing electro-mechanical design projects, including wireways, electric racks, equipment panels, cable harnesses, and connection systems.
• Solid understanding of mechanical fundamentals such as fabrication, material properties, hardware, strength, and mechanics.
• In-depth knowledge of electrical fundamentals, including wire and switching component properties, connecting technology, insulation, dynamic routing, EMI, grounding, and circuit protection.
• Excellent problem-solving skills to address project changes, production issues, and vehicle-related challenges in the field.
• Experience with electro-mechanical design and integration tools and processes, such as PLM (SAP), Creo Parametric, V model in Engineering, and simulation tools like FEA, CFD, or cable movement analysis.
• Practical application of industry standards to electro-mechanical design, including EN 50343, EN 50124-1, NFPA 130, and similar.
• Direct experience working in a manufacturing environment, interfacing with production, operations management, suppliers, quality assurance, and management, including troubleshooting or testing electro-mechanical assemblies and presenting to suppliers and customers.
All or part of the above in the Rolling Stock industry is a plus

The base salary range for this position in California is $130,000.00- $160,000.00. The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
