Position Overview:
We are hiring Motors/Gearbox Assembly Technicians to build, overhaul and rebuild locomotive gears and motors. We are responsible for disassembling, cleaning, repairing and reassembling components according to drawings and guidelines to ensure product specifications and quality standards are met. We inspect and adjust completed motors to ensure they meet specifications, tolerances, and customer order requirements. We have a training and development plan waiting for you!
Working hours:
1st Shift – Monday to Thursday, 10-hour days, 6:30am – 5:00pm
What your day-to-day will look like:
• Attach gearbox housing and couplings to build stand, then install gears, bearings, housings, spacers, covers, and fasteners.
• Measure clearances and part tolerances using precision instruments such as depth gauges, calipers, and micrometers; inspect for defects.
• Demount gearbox from build stand and inspect, test, and adjust units to ensure they meet specifications and customer requirements.
• Assemble, position, align, and fasten parts to assemblies or frames; disassemble and reassemble components as needed.
• Align, fit, or assemble components using hand or power tools, verifying part dimensions and clearances throughout the process.
• Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and work orders to accurately perform tasks and maintain quality standards.
• Attach name plates and mark identifying information on assemblies or components.
• Drill or tap holes in specified locations according to engineering requirements and guidelines.
• Confer with supervisors or engineers to plan, review, or optimize work activities and explain assembly procedures to other workers.
• Clean work areas and parts, inventory tools, conduct 6S audits and safety walks, and participate in work groups to improve processes and workflows.
To thrive in this role, you have:
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in assembly production or a similar role
• Extensive background in electromechanical assembly and wiring
• Proficient in reading and interpreting complex schematic drawings
• Direct hands-on experience with wiring and assembly tasks
• Ability to physically lift up to 35 pounds
• Strong communication skills in English (reading, speaking, and writing)
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment
• Demonstrated capacity to learn new information quickly and execute tasks successfully
• Commitment to working safely and operating power tools and equipment in a safe manner

The base rate range for this position in Alpharetta, GA is $19.45/hr - $26.84/hr. The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
