Senior Product Engineer - EDA Multi-Product Deployment Specialist
Location: Shannon, Ireland
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Technical Product Engineer to join our team in Shannon, Ireland. We are expanding our team as we continue our work on a ground-breaking greenfield application, focusing on the secure execution of chip design software and optimising its deployment within complex customer environments. This role presents real challenges and an outstanding opportunity to play a pivotal role in understanding, defining, and improving how Siemens' world-class EDA solutions—including prominent portfolios like Questa, Solido, Tessent and Calibre—are deployed and perform across diverse customer infrastructures, including on-premises and hybrid cloud setups.
You'll be at the forefront of evolving the next generation EDA product development and deployment, working closely with Siemens customers worldwide to enable the next generation of integrated circuit technology. This involves a deep dive into customer infrastructure challenges related to EDA, defining methodologies, and collaborating with R&D to solve critical pain points. You'll engage with meaningful software solutions in a customer domain that is a key part of the future of the semiconductor industry, all while being part of an empowered Agile SW team in Ireland, innovating faster than Moore’s Law. We appreciate that the lists below can appear daunting; they indicate elements you may already possess and areas you're keen to grow into. Our current team is culturally and technically diverse, understanding the five distinct technical domains required for the challenge ahead. We are all learning and growing, and you will too. We offer a role with responsibility, independence, and the possibility to contribute proactively, fostering a teamwork culture with room for individual development.
The Responsibilities
As a Senior Product Engineer, you will be instrumental in understanding and optimising the deployment of EDA tools within complex customer infrastructures, focusing on performance, reliability, and effective methodologies. Some domestic and international travel will be required.
- Customer Cloud Infrastructure Expertise: Deeply understand customers' unique HPC based EDA infrastructure challenges, including their Grids, Storage, Network, Linux scripting and regression setups. Identify pain points and support methodology improvements to drive best-in-class solutions.
- Define EDA Product Features & Methodologies: Define feature and product requirements for EDA solutions, focusing on their optimal deployment and integration within customer on-premises and cloud infrastructures. Guide customers on advanced EDA methodologies and optimise usage within their specific environments. Collaborate with R&D to translate infrastructure pain points into innovative solutions.
- Solve EDA Deployment Challenges: Bridge the gap between EDA tools and robust customer infrastructure, optimising performance, reliability, and deployment across diverse environments (on-premises and cloud).
- Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership to other Product Engineers on EDA deployment and customer infrastructure. Work closely with product development and marketing teams to connect evolving EDA infrastructure challenges with Siemens' current and emerging technical solutions.
- Stakeholder & Customer Engagement: Represent and articulate the value of optimised EDA deployments to stakeholders from the highest level of Siemens leadership to Siemens field product specialists and our customers. Support Siemens EDA customers, addressing technical needs and concerns related to their infrastructure and tool usage.
- Training & Enablement: Deliver in-depth training sessions for field engineers and customers on EDA product features and functionality, especially concerning infrastructure integration and methodologies.
- Requirements Gathering & Specification: Design use cases and develop test scenarios tailored to customer EDA needs. Collaborate closely with customers to gather EDA product requirements and produce clear, detailed documentation and specifications.
- Marketing Support: Work closely with marketing teams to perform market research, product positioning, and create supporting presentation materials for EDA deployment best practices and solutions. Present and demonstrate Siemens EDA solutions' infrastructure-optimised capabilities at conferences, seminars, and events.
- Continuous Improvement: Work closely with experienced team members to advance technology, uphold best practices, and drive ongoing product enhancements for EDA deployment.
Who You Are (Ideal Candidate Profile)
You are an EDA deployment expert with a strong understanding of customer infrastructure (Grids, Storage, Network, etc.) and how to optimise EDA workflows. You possess:
- Customer-Centric Approach: Engages well with stakeholders, identifies customer needs and value quickly, and can form, articulate, and support the connection between engineering deliverables and customer needs, particularly in an EDA context.
- Adaptability & Proactiveness: Has the flexibility to wear different hats as the team rapidly grows, possesses a natural can-do attitude, and gets involved.
- Technical Acumen (EDA-focused): Comes from a diverse technology background with an understanding of EDA workflows and HPC infrastructure from the ground up, appreciating and anticipating functionality needs for customer-managed environments containing customer Intellectual Property.
- Influential Communicator: Can influence and drive change, adapting communication to various audiences, including executive-level management.
- Strategic Thinker: Identifies market and customer profiles for deploying EDA methodologies and technologies effectively on various customer infrastructures, developing a network of technical relationships at a peer-to-peer level with both customers and product engineering teams.
- Product Advocate: Influences product direction by gathering EDA product and infrastructure requirements and defining use models that drive product development and marketing teams. Participates in new feature specification, development, and validation processes to ensure solutions meet customer requirements for scalable and efficient EDA deployments.
