Our Smart Infrastructure Smart Buildings segment creates efficient, safe, adaptable, and responsible environments – perfect places that improve people’s lives. The Segment Head for Mechanical Services on our Portfolio Sales Enablement (PSE) team is a critical leadership role responsible for Siemens Building and Infrastructure’s overall mechanical services business in the United States.
The Segment Head for Mechanical Services leads the national mechanical service business for Siemens Smart Infrastructure, driving strategy, growth, and profitability across all U.S. Area Offices. In this senior role, you will set the vision and business plan for mechanical services and ensure its effective execution through strong leadership, planning, and a strategic yet hands-on approach. You will guide and support regional and local teams to deliver on both long-term strategic initiatives and day-to-day tactical action items, bridging high-level plans with on-the-ground results. This position has broad responsibilities – from developing innovative service offerings and business models to coaching field teams and monitoring performance – all aimed at growing our mechanical services portfolio and achieving operational excellence nationwide . Work is performed remotely (home office) when not traveling, and when remote you will use digital collaboration tools to interact with Area Office and national teams. This is a national role requiring up to 75% travel to Siemens Area Office locations and headquarters, as you engage with field leadership and customers across the country.
As the Segment Head for Mechanical Services, you will:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the U.S. mechanical services business, defining and executing strategies to achieve growth and profit margin targets. Develop a comprehensive mechanical services business plan and drive its implementation across all regions within the U.S.
- Lead and develop the national mechanical services team – including Mechanical Operations Managers, National Business Managers, and Portfolio Managers – to ensure effective rollout of initiatives and best practices across all Area Offices. Mentor these leaders and coordinate their efforts, aligning Area activities with the overall strategic plan and ensuring accountability on tactical action items (e.g. Area Office improvement plans, sales initiatives).
- Collaborate in the development of new mechanical service offerings and tools in conjunction with the Global Mechanical Technical Unit, Mechanical Center of Competence (CoC), engineering teams, Digital Service Center, and other cross-functional groups . This includes driving portfolio innovation that transforms our services.
- Drive the mechanical services business across U.S. You will ensure new offerings and process improvements are effectively introduced to the field organization. This involves releasing comprehensive market packages (with all necessary deliverables) and providing training and enablement for Area Office sales and operations teams, so that new initiatives are embraced and consistently executed across Areas.
- Support and coach local Area Office leadership to profitably grow their mechanical service business. You will act as a senior advisor to Area Office and zone leaders to run this portion of their business effectively – from optimizing service agreement pricing and cost management to improving project execution and customer satisfaction. This includes conducting or facilitating workshops and enabling best-practice sharing among Area Offices.
- Identify areas for operational improvement both nationally and in Area Offices. Develop and implement business solutions.
- Partner closely with sales teams and National Business Managers to ensure mechanical service proposals and projects are scoped and sold correctly to mitigate risk and meet customer needs.
- Monitor business performance and drive accountability. You will provide transparency on the status and progress of the Mechanical Services segment through regular reporting of key metrics (revenue, growth rate, margins, service agreement attach rates, etc.) .
- Champion cross-functional collaboration and innovation: act as the voice of the mechanical services business in various forums. Accelerate mechanical growth and profitability. Collaborate across departments to ensure mechanical services is integrated with Siemens’ smart building solutions.
You will make an impact with these qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum 15 years of experience delivering and managing building HVAC/mechanical services (service agreements, maintenance, retrofits, etc.) for building owners and operators.
- Must be able to demonstrate:
- An understanding of mechanical services market dynamics, operational best practices, and financial drivers.
- Leadership and people management skills, with the ability to lead, collaborate with, and motivate distributed teams in a matrix organization.
- Planning and project management skills – capable of juggling multiple priorities, programs, and initiatives simultaneously while driving them to completion.
- Interpersonal and relationship-building skills to work effectively with Area Office leadership, regional management, customers, and cross-functional colleagues.
- Proficiency with business software and analytics tools. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and other programs for data analysis and reporting is required. Familiarity with enterprise systems (e.g. SAP for service)
- Verbal and written communication skills in English. Able to articulate complex ideas and strategies clearly to diverse audiences, from field mechanics to executives. Excellent presentation skills are essential for leading training sessions and executive briefings.
- Ability to travel up to 75% of the time across the U.S., and flexibility to work remotely when not traveling. Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license (required for travel via rental car) with a clean driving record.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Business Administration or a related field is preferred (or equivalent combination of education and HVAC industry experience).
- Prior experience within Siemens or a similar large building services organization in a national or regional leadership role is highly desirable. Familiarity with Siemens Smart Infrastructure portfolio and internal processes can help you hit the ground running.
- Working knowledge of Siemens and industry tools/systems such as SAP, Works Field Service, XOi, SharePoint, or similar business systems. Experience leveraging digital platforms for service (remote monitoring, analytics dashboards) is a plus.
- Experience in developing and delivering training programs for field employees. You take pride in coaching others and have led workshops or classes on technical or business topics. Experience in public speaking or presenting at industry conferences is an advantage.
- Proven ability to drive organizational change. This could include leading new service offering rollouts, process improvement initiatives, or cultural shifts in adopting new tools.
- Previous hands-on experience in mechanical service operations (e.g., as a field technician, service supervisor, or project manager) is beneficial. It helps in understanding the day-to-day challenges of our technicians and customers, lending credibility to your leadership.
- A passion for innovation in the building services arena – e.g., exploring IoT, AI, sustainability trends – and the ability to apply creative thinking to grow the business and differentiate our services.

As Segment Head for Mechanical Services, you will shape the mechanical services portfolio and operational approach nationwide, affecting business results across all regions. You’ll make key decisions on resource allocation, investments, and prioritization of initiatives within the mechanical segment, balancing available budget and personnel against business needs. Your guidance on the mechanical services “slate” of offerings and improvement programs will influence how Area Offices operate and how customers experience Siemens services.
You will work closely with your Mechanical CoC team members and field leadership to develop and launch new offerings, ensuring that innovations are feasible and effectively implemented in the field. The scope of your impact spans the entire country – improvements or strategies you implement can benefit all Area offices and regions, helping to drive consistent growth and profitability.
To ensure proper governance, you’ll utilize established processes like the Project Review Process (PRP) when developing new offerings or major programs. Some decisions (especially those involving significant investment or risk) will be made in consultation with or referred to higher management, but the vast majority of day-to-day strategic and operational decisions for the mechanical services segment will rest with you. Additionally, you may negotiate and manage national-level contracts or partnerships (e.g. with vendors or large customers) to support mechanical services, aligning them with Siemens procurement standards and ensuring they can be successfully executed by our field organization.

The pay range for this position is $145,156 - $248,839 annually with a target incentive of 20% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
