The Director of Solution Engineering position oversees a team of engineers and engineering managers, helping them grow, stay aligned, and operate at a high standard. The role blends technical leadership, business strategy, and strong cross-functional partnership. The Director is expected to shape the future of the organization by improving processes, strengthening customer confidence, and supporting the company’s long-term growth.

You will make an impact with the following responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and support a team of engineers and managers, helping them develop their skills and advance in their careers.
  • Set clear expectations, provide coaching, and build a culture centered on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the team is structured and resourced to meet both near-term and long-term business needs.

Technical Direction & Execution

  • Guide the engineering team in delivering high-quality technical solutions for complex power-distribution projects.
  • Standardize processes, improve consistency, and raise the level of technical execution across the group.
  • Provide oversight on critical proposals, and technical risks to ensure high confidence in customer-facing work.

Sales & Commercial Support

  • Work closely with the sales organization to qualify opportunities, create solution strategies, and increase win probability.
  • Join customer discussions as a technical leader, helping translate customer needs into meaningful engineering direction.
  • Align engineering work with revenue targets, margin expectations, and overall commercial strategy.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Maintain strong working relationships with product management, product development, marketing, project management, and operations.
  • Help identify gaps in the product portfolio, emerging customer needs, and opportunities to expand or refine offerings.
  • Participate in internal discussions to help shape product roadmaps and business priorities.

Financial & Operational Leadership

  • Support budgeting, long-range planning, and resource allocation for the engineering organization.
  • Monitor workload, efficiency, and team performance to ensure strong execution and responsible cost management.
  • Make decisions that balance technical needs with financial realities and long-term business strategy.

Vendor & Partner Engagement

  • Identify and evaluate external vendors and technology partners that can strengthen our solutions or fill product gaps.
  • Work with supply chain and product teams to ensure selected partners meet technical, reliability, and compliance requirements.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • 7+ years of experience in power distribution or related technical industries, with a strong background in leadership.
  • Direct experience leading engineering teams, including managers and senior technical staff.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US with no sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Electrical Engineering Degree.
  • Experience working closely with sales teams and supporting large customer pursuits.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to simplify complexity and influence across the organization.
  • Comfortable operating in a matrixed environment with multiple stakeholders and shifting priorities

The pay range for this position is $145,156 - $248,839. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.

The pay range for this position is $145,156 - $248,839 annually with a target incentive of 20% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
