We are looking for a new colleague to complement our global team as Portfolio Unit Architect - Fire Safety at Siemens Building Products. Are you intrinsically motivated, well-organized, and confident when challenging the status quo? Then join our team and help us creating environments that care!


Location: this role will be based in Zug/Switzerland. Please note that qualified candidates need to be legally eligible for work authorization in Switzerland.

Job Summary

Defines portfolio architecture and ensures its implementation based on market demand, competitiveness, and business objectives.


Your new responsibilities

  • Define and maintain architectural vision, roadmap and framework (modelling, design, code practices) to achieve strategic objectives
  • Ensure architectural decisions reflect market needs and business goals
  • Ensure integration / interoperability across portfolios, new technologies and solutions to enhance scalability and performance
  • Ensure common modelling, design and coding practices are followed incl. compliance to industry standards and regulatory requirements
  • Support Product Line architects in implementation of design principles
  • Lead and provide transparency on core asset development initiatives
  • Contribute and shape actively the overall global Buildings portfolio architecture and data modelling

Your talents and experience

  • Master’s degree in computer science, software or electrical engineering or comparable education
  • More than 5 years’ experience in successfully working as a software architect for mid and large sized projects, several years of working experience in system- and product development
  • Successful technically lead of architectural teams for at least 2 years
  • Profound knowledge in Architecture and design (cloud, embedded systems, cybersecurity) and with Software design methods (e.g. OOA/OOD/UML, Design Patterns)
  • Solid understanding of process and quality management, including requirements engineering, configuration and change management, risk management, and quality assurance
  • Solid business case understanding, project- and product management (methods and tools) are an advantage
  • Experience with agile development processes, covering system, software, hardware, and test disciplines would be beneficial
  • Strong analytical, strategic, result and quality orientation
  • Energized in collaboration, coaching, mentoring and team building
  • Ability to collaborate and work cross-functionally in a global organization
  • Good communication and presentation skills in English are a prerequisite, and proficiency in German is highly beneficial
