Job Description

The Mobility Export Control team is a global team providing support to the Mobility business and ensuring adherence to the applicable export control regulations and sanctions. This position will report to the Head of Export Control for Mobility, in Germany, and have an in-country manager in China. The SMO Export Control Business Partner in China will support the business in China and Hong Kong. The responsibilities of this position will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Implementing export control policies and procedures
  • Assessing new developments and changes in export control regulations, evaluating potential impacts on the business, and coordinating compliance with relevant Export Control regulations
  • Providing mentoring and training to Mobility colleagues, including Export Control Associates
  • Determining the export classifications for Mobility items in accordance with the applicable regulations (China, EU, US) for software, hardware, and technology, including de-minimis calculations.
  • Performing periodic spot checks to assess compliance with internal guidelines, policies, and applicable export control regulations and sanctions
  • Supporting internal and external audits, and working with the business to implement remediation actions as necessary
  • Being a trusted advisor to the business and manage issues related to export control, collaborating with Export Control colleagues within China, SMO, and Siemens A.G.
  • Driving continuous improvement related to export control topics through lean, optimized processes and effective controls
  • Supporting export control assessments for M&A activities
  • Participating in various projects, including cross-departmental
  • Identifying, analyzing, monitoring and tracking export control related risks and reporting within the defined framework
  • Integrating export control requirements in the IT landscape, including digital platforms, within SMO China and Hong Kong

Required Skills

  • Export Control, Export Compliance, or Foreign Trade Compliance experience
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Ability to determine root cause, develop and implement practical and timely solutions; create and explore alternatives and respond to challenges with innovative solutions
  • Effectively engage with digital and AI solutions
  • Think and act in ways that are new and novel by questioning the status quo
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in both Chinese and English
  • Ability to effectuate change
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, law, or equivalent
  • Competency with Microsoft Office
