Join us as a Technical Category Manager!
Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for procurement and technical innovation? Join our Rolling Stock Procurement team in Prague! We are looking for a proactive Technical Category Manager who will play a key role in maximizing value and efficiency within technical categories. You will primarily focus on electronic and mechanical parts.
How will your team look like?
You will become part of a small, dynamic, and newly established team in Prague, composed of project management specialists who work on a diverse range of tenders and projects. You will collaborate closely with our German headquarters and international suppliers to ensure strategic alignment and the best possible conditions. Your direct supervisor will be the Head of the Electro-Mechanical Systems group. Together, we will focus on maximizing cost savings, optimizing procurement processes, and strengthening our strategic market position.
What will you work on?
  • Category Strategy and Development: Develop and implement global and local procurement strategies for assigned technical categories (electronics/mechanics), aiming for competitiveness and innovation.
  • Procurement Power Optimization: Consolidate regional and supra-regional demand to maximize our purchasing power and achieve the most favorable conditions.
  • Negotiation Mastery: Lead key negotiations with suppliers, effectively negotiate prices and terms, and realize significant cost savings.
  • Data-Driven Sourcing Decisions: Make informed sourcing decisions based on comprehensive Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis and market trends.
  • In-depth Cost Analysis: Conduct detailed analyses of cost structures within the electronics/mechanics domain, identify optimization potential, and prepare precise cost calculations and supplier offer comparisons.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Actively drive continuous improvement in quality, cost, delivery, service, and technology within your category.
  • Productivity Initiatives: Strategically manage and implement productivity initiatives to maximize savings and efficiency in procurement processes.
What should you bring to the team?
  • Education: Completed university degree (Bachelor's level) in a technical field or demonstrable relevant practical experience.
  • Experience: A minimum of several years of experience in strategic procurement, ideally gained in a dynamic industrial environment.
  • Skills: Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with both suppliers and internal partners.
  • Approach: Proven practical experience in strategic procurement, supplier management, and quality assurance, with an emphasis on problem-solving, an innovative approach, and results orientation.
  • Languages: Fluent English (written and spoken) is essential; knowledge of German is a significant advantage.
