We are looking for System Engineer – Kavach (Onboard & Station ATP Systems)

The System Engineer – Kavach will contribute to the design, development, integration, and validation of India’s indigenous Automatic Train Protection (TCAS/Kavach) system. The role includes defining and managing system and subsystem requirements, supporting onboard and station-side integration, ensuring compliance with SIL-4 safety standards, and assisting in verification and validation activities.

This position requires strong systems engineering fundamentals, familiarity with signalling principles, and the ability to work across cross-functional teams for both onboard (Loco Kavach) and trackside (Station Kavach) implementations.

You’ll make a difference by

  • Capture, analyse, and manage system and subsystem requirements for Kavach (onboard and station).
  • Support development and maintenance of system architecture and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
  • Coordinate integration activities between onboard and station subsystems, ensuring seamless communication and interoperability.
  • Assist in safety analysis, RAMS activities, and compliance with EN 50126/8/9 and Indian Railway standards.
  • Participate in lab testing, field validation, and commissioning activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, software, signalling, telecom, safety, rolling stock).
  • Support preparation of technical documentation, design reviews, and progress reporting.

Desired Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Systems, or Railway Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 3–8 years of experience in signalling, TCAS/Kavach, ETCS, CBTC, or other safety-critical systems.
  • Exposure to onboard or trackside signalling systems preferred.
  • Experience in requirements management, system integration, or testing.
  • Basic knowledge of railway signalling and communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with system engineering processes and CENELEC standards (EN 50126/8/9, EN 50159).
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as DOORS, JIRA, or equivalent (desirable).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Adaptability to work across onboard and trackside system domains.
