Join the growing team at our premier high-speed passenger railcar manufacturing facility in Horseheads, NY! Siemens Mobility, Rolling Stock Division is the North American market leader in the production of passenger coaches, locomotives, and light rail vehicles.

The Supply Chain Planner plays a key role in ensuring production readiness by timely Purchase Order Placement, handling critical supplier relationships and driving the on-time delivery of materials. This role focuses on leading material planning, resolving supply chain challenges, overseeing procurement activities, and supporting cross-functional teams to maintain smooth operations in an engineer-to-order manufacturing environment. Success in this position requires strong analytical skills, effective communication, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Analyze demand in ERP, create Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders.
  • Perform excess inventory analysis and coordinate with the warehouse to ensure availability of excess inventory while minimizing liability.
  • Negotiate with suppliers for quick buys and escalate PO delivery issues as necessary.
  • Drive PO acceptance and delivery confirmation process, partnering with internal team members to resolve issues.
  • Proactively monitor supply and demand imbalances and take corrective actions to resolve material shortages impacting production.
  • Analyze and interpret Engineering drawings to identify material requirements.
  • Collaborate with Project Management, Strategic Procurement, and other teams to address potential delays.

To thrive in this role, you have:

  • Worked on a supply chain or procurement role for over 3 years in a manufacturing environment
  • Highly proficient MS Excel skills.
  • MRP systems knowledge, SAP Preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related subject area – supply chain, business, manufacturing, or industrial engineering degree
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Highly analytical with a proven ability to identify and resolve sophisticated material-related issues.
  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy

The pay range for this position is $65,400 - $88,300 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
