We are looking for a Rail Infrastructure Project Management Assistant Intern. This position will be based at our New York City area branch located in New York.
During your summer journey with us, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the Project Execution Department of Rail Infrastructure of North America where you will be assigned to one of our project teams delivering CBTC solutions in the NY subway. You will interact with project managers, commercial project managers and many other engineers in planning, designing and progress controlling.
You will contribute rolling out/improving project execution excellence initiatives such as work package management, schedule management, contract management, etc. You will be trained on existing initiatives and processes first, before joining workshops and conducting interviews with project team members and management. You will collect improvement ideas, align with the team, update or create new process descriptions and provide training of the new areas to the project team members. The Intern will benefit from strong attention and regular support provided by the supervisor of the internship

A little bit about us
Siemens Mobility provides efficient and coordinated transportation of people and goods by rail – including rolling stock, rail automation, rail electrification, and service. We craft and manufacture across the entire spectrum of rolling stock, including commuter and regional passenger trains, light rail and streetcars, metros, locomotives, passenger coaches, and high-speed trainsets. Cities and Railroads also rely on us to provide traction-power substations and electricity transmission, as well as signaling and control technology for freight and passenger rail and transit systems.
How does Project Execution plays into the big picture?
The Project Execution department of Rail Infrastructure provides best-in-class project management for large and complex train control systems such as Conventional Signaling, Communication Based Train Control (CBTC), Positive Train Control (PTC) and Railway Electrification. Project Execution is accountable to deliver contracts on time, budget and quality, combined with high satisfaction of our customers.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Participate to project core team meetings
- Contribute updating project documents
- Contribute to requirement tracing
- Contribute to planning and progress monitoring of work packages
- Contribute to our continuous improvement initiative

Who Should Apply?
- Education / Majors: Current sophomore or junior undergraduates pursuing a BA/BS from an accredited college or university and majoring in a technical area with strong technical or analytical aptitude
- Availability: 40 hours per week from June to August
- Work Authorization: Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization
- Prior internship or co-op experience (preferred) with a preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Demonstrated leadership potential
- Strong analytical, writing, presentation, and critical-thinking skills
- Industry knowledge and/or interest
