Position Overview:
Siemens Mobility is seeking to fill Field Service Technician positions in the Boston, MA area. The Field Service Technician provides engineering advice to the Amtrak maintenance workforce in order to improve equipment reliability of the Siemens Amtrak Fleet - ACS-64 electric locomotive fleet. This includes advice on routine maintenance, restoration and resolution to equipment failures, semi-complex equipment installation, and modifications and repairs. This position will work a rotating shift = 8 weeks days, 16 weeks nights, 4 days per week (including weekdays, weekends and holidays) but can include afternoon or night shift based on operational needs.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Assist with running maintenance on a fleet of locomotives, maintenance instructions from Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Assist with unscheduled repairs on locomotives including Mechanical repairs, Electrical repairs, highly complex technical and troubleshooting repairs on locomotives.
- Follow all maintenance instructions (wherever available) to adhere to and maintain compliance and high-quality standards.
- Develop a working relationship with the Customer as an employee and representative of Siemens Mobility.
- Verify that all defects, tasks, and /or incidents have been reported and detailed in (CMMS) for compliance, issue tracking, and closure.
- Provide first line technical assistance to operations staff for troubleshooting and repair of locomotives.
- Maintain compliance to all applicable safety rules, laws, and regulations.
- Always ensure highest quality standards are met in accordance with Siemens Rail Systems.
- In the absence of Stores Keeper Controllers, perform Material transactions to support the fleet as needed.
- Foster a work environment that drives a safety first zero harm culture (ZHC) and speak up when necessary, as a stakeholder for shop and site safety for yourself and your coworkers.
- Interact with the leadership as needed on all site issues, systems, and related facility operations
To thrive in this role, you have:
- Associate degree in Electrical, Electrical Automation or Industrial Maintenance or related subject area. In lieu of degree a minimum of 5 years of electrical experience will be considered.
- Minimum 1 year of experience working in an industrial or maintenance environment related to electrical work.
- Experience troubleshooting Electrical (both AC and DC circuits), Mechanical, and Pneumatic systems.
- Experience interpreting electrical and pneumatic schematics and drawings.
- Excellently demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel for training – Approximately 10%
- Setting you apart from others would be an Associate or Bachelor degree in Electrical, Electrical Automation or Industrial Maintenance with a background in rolling stock maintenance and commissioning or other rail-related experience. Experience with SAP is a plus.

The pay range for this position is $70,200.00 - $82,600.00 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
