We are looking for a Project Controls Engineering Intern. This position will be based at our Sacramento area branch located in California.
During your summer journey with us, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the Enterprise Scheduling department where you will learn how schedule management plays a crucial role in project operations and management. You will engage with the team in managing complex project schedules that integrate the engineering, procurement, and manufacturing aspects of our Rolling Stock portfolio, including light rail vehicles, electric locomotives, diesel-electric locomotives, and passenger coaches. Your contributions will help ensure that project timelines are efficiently controlled and aligned across advanced Rail Vehicle Projects.

Siemens Mobility provides efficient and coordinated transportation of people and goods by rail – including rolling stock, rail automation, rail electrification, and service. We craft and manufacture across the entire spectrum of rolling stock, including commuter and regional passenger trains, light rail and streetcars, metros, locomotives, passenger coaches, and high-speed trainsets. Cities and Railroads also rely on us to provide traction-power substations and electricity transmission, as well as signaling and control technology for freight and passenger rail and transit systems.

At Siemens, the Enterprise Scheduling Department is the strategic heartbeat behind every rail vehicle program - driving precision, transparency, and efficiency across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain. As a centralized team of Project Controls Engineers, they manage master schedules from bid to delivery using tools like Primavera P6 and SAP, enabling real-time decision-making and risk mitigation. Interns here don’t just learn scheduling - they help shape the execution of multimillion-dollar projects, collaborate across departments, and contribute to innovations like AI-driven planning and live Tableau dashboards. You may also be involved in many planning aspects related to capacity planning, process improvements, lean manufacturing, and project management. It’s where logistics meets leadership.

Who Should Apply?
- Education / Majors: Current sophomore or junior undergraduates pursuing a BA/BS from an accredited college or university and majoring in Engineering with strong technical or analytical aptitude
- Availability: 40 hours per week from June to August
- Work Authorization: Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization
- Prior internship or co-op experience (preferred) with a preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Demonstrated leadership potential
- Strong analytical, writing, presentation, and critical-thinking skills
- Industry knowledge and/or interest
