Hours: Full-time, 40 hours/week

Siemens Xcelerator – the X in Building X
Siemens Xcelerator is an open digital business platform that enables digital transformation faster and at a larger scale. Building X is a cloud based smart building connectivity platform to digitalize, manage and optimize building operations, allowing for enhanced user experience, increased performance and improved sustainability.
What will I do as a Smart Buildings X Sales Intern?
- Work alongside Sales Managers and Sales Executives within the local branch office.
- Assist the sales team with lead generation, prospecting, and account outreach.
- Support the preparation of sales presentations, proposals, and reports.
- Help manage CRM data by tracking leads and maintaining data accuracy.
- Shadow sales calls and meetings to learn effective sales techniques.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (operations, other business units, departments, etc.) to support customer engagement
- Analyze sales performance data and provide insights into driving growth.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute creative ideas for improving sales processes.
- Participate in sales related activities (learning how to prospect, go-to-market, build B2B relationships, on-the-job training and shadowing, etc.)
· Rotate through our core business segments, which include Building Automation, Fire/Life Safety, Security and Energy/Sustainability Systems.
Responsibilities of a Smart Buildings X Sales Intern
1) Learn the Basics
- Complete Building X Intro Training and watch at least two enablement sessions (e.g., BX Decoded).
- Shadow customer meetings or site visits with the sales team; take notes on key points.
2) Support Customer Success
- Help prepare onboarding checklists (Digital Readiness Check, point lists) for new BX customers.
- Update simple Customer Success Plan templates with guidance from the CSM or Sales.
- Track adoption milestones in a shared spreadsheet (e.g., “first login,” “dashboard review”).
3) Assist with Prospecting
- Build a target account list.
- Research 1–2 key facts per account (e.g., building size, sustainability goals) and log them in CRM.
- Send introductory emails and/or calls to prospects/existing customers.
4) Help with Sales Materials
- Identify best sales materials to support BX Sales, support sales in preparation for presentation
5) Reporting & Organization
- Keep CRM records clean: update contact info, meeting notes, and next steps after calls.
- Prepare a weekly summary of activities (calls supported, accounts researched, onboarding tasks completed).
Learning Outcomes
- Understand the Building X value proposition and how it ties to energy, comfort, and sustainability.
- Gain exposure to sales cycles and customer success practices.
- Build confidence in prospecting, CRM hygiene, and basic onboarding steps and in other available tools and technology
The goal of this internship program is to develop future talent for the Siemens organization and help you identify where you may be interested in pursuing a career at Siemens post-graduation.
To apply for the Smart Buildings X Sales Internship, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Education: Must be current enrollment as an undergraduate at an accredited 4-year U.S. college or university.
- Majors: Pursing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Energy/Sustainability, Built Environment, Construction Management or Business Administration, Sales/Marketing with a strong technical engineering aptitude.
- Preferred: Participation in a school sponsored sales engineering club/organization, pursuing a professional sales certificate or similar.
- Earliest Graduation Date: Rising Sophomore or Junior, graduating between December 2027 – May 2029
- Availability: Ability to work 40-hours per week for the 10-week program (May - July or June - August).
- Relocation: No relocation assistance or housing stipend is provided. Must be willing and able to work at the branch office location and surrounding local area.
- Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company or school sponsorship. This program does not support students on a Visa such as F1, J1, M1 and H1B as well as OPT/CPT.
Benefits:
The hourly pay range for this position is $24 - $28 per hour, based off of your projected graduation year. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location. Additionally, interns for Siemens are eligible to contribute into our 401K program.
